Is One Hour Photo any good?
Seen and loved Romaneks other feature film 'Static' many years ago, just wondering how this compares, is it any good? I never got round to it in theatres and may buy blind. Should I?

I personally love it, but I also recommend you rent it first. d2cheer is right on the replay value, it's not a movie I could see you watching over and over again. But I highly suggect renting it aleast, Robin Williams did a great job with the role.

It is definately a different kind of thriller, it does have alot of style going for it and approaches what has been done before in these kind of thrillers in a new and provocative kind of way. Much credit to Robin Williams who gives a superb performance, much better than his Insomnia role which got more attention.

I enjoyed it a lot--it's intelligent, engaging, and mildly disturbing. More of a character study, than a traditional thriller; it’s the kind of movie that slowly creeps under your skin. The directing is subtle, the performances believable. IMO it’s one of the better mysteries/thrillers of the last few years. WRT replay value, I suppose mileage varies. I’ve seen it 3 times and enjoyed it more each time. But then I am more drawn to how a story is told rather than the story itself---I don’t need to be surprised to appreciate the ride.

Not as much a thriller as it is made out to be, (the trailer, some critical reviews etc.) but Robin Williams is top notch.
I probably would never have seen it, if it didn't have his name tacked onto it.
rent first. Unless you get a good price.

I expected it to be thrilling and scary, but it wasn't at all. I also didn't care for Williams performance. I can't say if it was his fault though, I think it was more of a problem with the script and the character.
I ended up really enjoying it though for the musical and visual rhythms throughout.
I'd rent it because there's a lot other stuff that'd make a better purchase.

Robin Williams was okay in the film, but I thought the plot was sorely lacking. I saw it less than a month ago and I can't even remember how it ends--that's how little of an impression it made upon me. It was nicely shot and lit--I'll give it that.

Definitely rent it first.
I thought Robin Williams was spot-on in it, probably his best performance in years, but when the end credits started rolling I said to myslef is that all there is? That was it?
The film really left me wanting more. It was rather short, running at just about 90 minutes.
I thought the resolution of the film was pretty anti-climatic -- the movie just sort of pulls you in, you see Sy (The Photo Guy) starting to descend into madness slowly, and he just keeps spiraling in deeper and deeper and then... it's over.

I thought it was a good thriller but not as good as I expected. I had to get it as part of Robin Williams' "Dark Trilogy" Insomnia, Death to Smoochy and One Hour Photo.
It's a good, creepy and intense film. Just not as creepy and intense as I was lead to believe. (If that makes any sense) Not much re-play value, maybe viewings once or twice a year at best.
