I am confused by putting my surround speakers. At which position I should put my surround speakers? At Dolby's website, they show their surround speaker at the side. While my speaker's manual, show the diagram by putting surround speaker in rear position. Can somebody suggest or advised me where to put my surround speaker? Thanks for your time!

Mine are in the rear...angled in just ever so slightly. But I've got a room thats on the smaller side.

Just check what sounds good. Play around with the placement. Just my opinion.

Although they are supposed to go on the sides, my HT doesnt allow me to place them in this configuration.

So like most other people, I have them in the rear. Afterwhich I calibrated the system with AVIA.

Sounds great to me.

For monopole direct radiating speakers for the surrounds, I find that they sound better behind and not to the side.
And above the head as the Dolby site recommends

This is almost identical to another thread in which I responded this way:
While Dolby's placement is one method, there are no 'rules' as to where you should place them. They offer several suggestions on their site, but the best method is experimentation and see what sounds best to you. My surrounds are about 100 lbs each...I don't see them going 3 feet over my head.
Seriously, what part of the speaker are they talking about? Tweeters, midrange, woofers? It's not a definite science, and experimentation is the key.

They are talking about tweeter height.

I put my surround speakers at the side. I prefer it that way.
