LOL, Bose doesn't price anything that low.

OP, what kind of speakers? How many?

I've personally never liked Bose, regardless of how many people say otherwise.

Also, audio is very subjective. Go out and listen to everything you can find. Then based on what you like, you can/will get recommendations based on similar hardware.

The Pioneer Andrew Jones budget speakers are amazing. I got a 7.2 set-up for like $1,000 and they blow away systems my friends paid over more $5k for.

5.1 setup under $500... The Energy Classic Take 5.1 always got good reviews for the price.

I have an original Take 5 set and have always liked them.

Wharfedale Diamond Speakers 10.1 or 10.2 $349-$449.
Crisp but warm sound. You can thank me later. Best bang for the buck in that price range that will rival many top end speakers.

What an awful question. How many speakers are you looking for? It looks like you can get a single Klipsch tower speaker for $445. I love my Klipsch, so I suppose I would recommend that one.

I paid more because they are on their way out. I think they've been discontinued already, but not 100%. Now the smaller speakers are about $130 a pair.

Pioneer produced them almost as a favor for Andrew Jones because he wanted to see how good speakers can be made for the least amount of money.

I got a Denon AVR-S900W (love it) for $665
(2) Pioneer SW-8MK2 Andrew Jones Designed 100-Watt Powered Subwoofer for $350
(2) Pioneer SP-FS52-LR Andrew Jones Designed Floor standing Loudspeaker for $250
Pioneer SP-C22 Andrew Jones Designed Center Channel Speaker for $150
(4)
Pioneer SP-BS22-LR Andrew Jones Designed Bookshelf Loudspeakers for $250
