Once a manufacturer discontines a Blu-Ray player do they have to keep the firmware up
I just went to my players manufacturer and found out that they have discontinued the player I own.
The last firmware update on their site is back in 2010. But my player plays all the discs I have without problem (well except that Terminator 2 disc).
Question is, do they have to keep updating the firmware, or once discontinued they don't have to.
Just wondering.

If you mean law, or even license requirement, I don't think so. They don't have to before they discontinue it, either.

Mine was discontinuted too. No firmware updates for a while. Even when I didn't have the latest firmware I never had a problem playing any discs.
