Cheapest way to create a home theatre in your garage??

Hi

We are looking to create a home theatre in our garage, as cheap as possible. We are looking for one of the projectors that you can hook up to say Dish and a DVD or Blu Ray we know those run a bit. But overall try not to spend you know a ton of money. What is recommended for the concrete floor. It is a standard two car garage connected to a town home??

Any suggestions would be awesome. My brother and I plan to make it a nice project starting this summer and plan to take pics and everything.

You really need to give an actual price range, there's just too much variety.

woot! has a decent projector as its daily refurb today. $650, although refurb isn't really a great idea for projectors.

Any home theater projector will connect to standard theater devices like DVD, bluray...that shouldn't be an issue.

I would imagine the biggest expense would be to pump somei heating/cooling nto the garage more so then anything with the system setup itself. As the previous poster mentioned you can do this on the extreme cheap or throw some serious cash at it, what are you looking to accomplish exactly -- min/max screen size requirements, dimensions of the garage, 5.1 or 7.1+ sound system, seating arrangements, etc etc.

A good recommendation for seats I have is to seek out a movie theatre that is closing (there seems to be a new one closing every month in my city) and ask them for some of their seats.

Most theatres just throw them out even though they're still perfectly useable.

They're pretty cool & usually come with drink holders and can be separated or attached very easily. They're rather unstable but all you have to do is attach "skis" on the feet to stabilize them.

I think they're much more interesting than those standard manufactured "Home Theatre" leather recliners that sell for $600.

IMO, the best way to save is with lots of planning on the front end and do it all yourself. If you click on my link, by original budget was $2,000 not including theater seats on the rear row. But did include all electronics, riser, screen, speakers, decorations, lighting, remote, etc.

There is no super difficult thing about DYI on home theater. You just have to be willing to learn and try.
