A/V connection question?

I'm wondering what is the best way to connect the following: Pioneer PDP 5080, Dennon AVR-2809, PS3, Wii, sony 5 disk CD changer.
I had an HD cable box from Comcast with HDMI connection. I just opted to get a (free) cable card to put directly in the TV to skip the box and save $9/month. Previously I had cable from wall to box -> box HDMI to receiver -> receiver HDMI to TV. Without cable box, what is now the best way to connect? Just simple a/v out TV to a/v in receiver?
Also, if I want to use PIP function of TV, do I need to use a splitter for the coax in? If I do, do I lose quality?
Sorry if I'm making a simple problem too complex. Thanks
