My TV volume is soooo low! Whats wrong?

Two year old Samsung LCD (52") with Comcast digital cable. A few months ago we started to notice that we had to turn the volume WAY up (I'm talking like 90+) to make it loud enough. Both speakers are working - why would we need to blast the volume like that?

Is there a volume control on your cable box itself?

I know sometimes mine reboots itself and I have to change the volume on the cable box.

I dont have Comcast so i'm not to sure what exactly I'm looking at, heh.

I would think the arrows on the left side would be a volume control.

Have you tried tapping the right arrow on the box?

no idea, however those boxes do not have a volume control like some do.

My volume on HD needs to be turned way up, but when playing a console game or a DVD we have to turn it way down.

I would check the audio settings on the cable box. Go into the Settings menu and check what audio is set to output. I would try the various settings to see if any improve the sound levels.

Also, does your TV have any kind of "night mode" audio setting? I know on many receivers there is such a setting which reduces the volume. I have no idea if any TVs do but worth checking to make certain.

Good luck. That must be so frustrating.

i believe some of the COMCAST boxes have a hidden mode also. Search the brand to see if you can get into that menu

Also, how do you have the audio running from the cable box to the TV? RCA/HDMI/OPTICAL?

Reboot the cable box. If not call the cable company and have them do it. That was happening to me and the reboot fixed it

Press the Cable button at the top of the remote and then turn the volume up or down. I've had it happen where someone turned the cable box volume way down and I had the TV volume way up. It wasn't until I accidentally hit the cable button before the volume button that I saw what had happened.

I have Charter Cable, they use the same equipment as Comcast. Go to the audio set-up menu and select "TV Speakers" that should make it louder. But not much louder, mine is low no matter what I try.

Re: My TV volume is soooo low! Whats wrong?

Just to clarify:

Is this happening just with the cable, or with DVDs too (or anything else hooked up to the TV)?
