Panasonic DMR-EZ27 No Read Problem

I bought the Panasonic DMR-EZ27 DVD Recorder. I recorded one 4 hour show. I was leaving my house and started recording a second 4 hour show the next day. I got home about 4 and a half hours later. The recorder looked like it was finished. I went to finalize it. To do so, all I have to do is push the open/close button. But when I pushed the button, the disc drawer just opened. I then pulled the disc out and noticed that it only recorded about 2 hours worth. It didn't ask me about finalizing the disc. I put the disc back in and it started making a weird noise, Like the lazor turns on then off and back on and off. It does this for about 5 times. Then a message comes on the player that says "NO READ." 4 times I put another blank disc in with the same thing. I then put a dvd in that I've watched on the player several times with the same result, NO READ.

Does anyone know what's wrong with it and how to fix it? Thanks

Well, sounds like it broke. You've had it awhile? They usually aren't worth fixing unless the warranty is still good.

Bought it 2 years ago, but haven't used the recorder part. Now I started using the recorder and the 2nd time is when it happened.

I talked to a Panasonic rep ands he said that it sounds like the lens is messed up and needs replacing. If so, does anyone know where to get replacements lenses?
