I want to mount Direct TV box under kitchen cabinet

Title says it all. I have a small tv and direct tv box in my kitchen. I want to have the box hang from under my cabinets rather than sit on the counter. Is there a good bracket for this?

Thanks, but that one's not going to work. I need something to suspend a shelf below my cabinets. That one would have to screw into the wall. I don't/can't do that.

So screw a couple of small 2x2 squares that are about an inch thick to the bottom of the cabinet and then that rack to those suspended boards. Voila, open back area to let cords run and you don't screw into the wall. There shouldn't be enough weight from a DirecTV box to cause issues.

It sounds ghetto as hell, but if you trim it and bend it carefully and paint it nicely....plumbers strap would let you suspend it no problem and look OK. No shelf at all.

Not sure what box you have, I have three styles (DVR, plain HD, and standard) and both HD and standard have cooling vents on top...I wouldnt' mount too close to the underneath of the cabinet.

You could also just use some stock brackets from your local hardware store. Most have ones like the crappy little diagram below (periods only there because with no characters the board puts it all the way left).

Again though would put it pretty flush with the bottom.

He could theoretically mount it upside down provided he didn't use a solid shelf or if he cut some vent holes in it.

I agree with you that there are probably cheaper and just as effective ways of mounting it. That shelf from Monoprice (as much as I love them) seems a bit steep for no more than it is and does.

I was prepared to mount it upside down for venting, but I was pleased to discover that the standard box has all air vents on the side. I mounted it with two galvanized brackets that I got at the hardware store. I believe they're for mounting 4x4 posts when constructing a wooden deck. They are shapped like this:

[====] The equal signs are the standard box.

Worked great. I'll post some pictures eventually.
