It has 5 channel pre-outs, but my manufacturer (Denon) offers an upgrade to have 5 channel inputs. Should I do it?

Fergy,
Are you saying this is a pro logic preamp?
Or does it have a digital input? If the
upgrade adds a digital input for DD5.1, it
is worth it. If it is 5 separate pre-ins,
it is not. It may be better to replace it
with a newer version.

No, it has numerous digital ins and it is already a DD capable preamp. This would add 5 digital channel inputs for use with a DTS decoder or for future DVD-A.

Sounds like upgrading to DTS would be ok.
Not many DTS tiles available yet.
