Edge fringing

I have a question. I have a front projector and non-regional DVD player(Pal +NTSC). I have a good collection of DVDs from all over the world. One thing that I can not resolve is that when I play dvds in PAL format, I always get (colored) edge fringing. Is there any way to get rid of this effects? My equipments are; Philips DVP642/37 player, and Mitsubishi XD450U projector. But I do not use progressive scan for this combo.
Any suggestion is greatly appreciated.

Well this could be a number of things. I am not familiar with PAL but the ringing or edge enhancement issues you describe could be due to improper calibration. Too much sharpness can lead to this type of issue. It could also be a transfer issue too I suppose.
