HDMI Cable talk: how long and which type to get?
ok... we're wall mounting the xbr4... I was wondering how long should I get? 10' 15'??
the a/v receiver will be sitting near but not too near... I'm leaning more towards a longer length for just in case stuff.
Which company did you buy ? I hear generic can be just as good as monster.
Did any of your buy extra wires that are left unused for just in case stuff if want to hook up future units?

We all buy them at monoprice.com. And get as long as you need, there's no reason to get too long. The longer you get, the thicker you should get. If you need 15' or more, I'd upgrade to the 24AWG, otherwise the cheapest 28AWG is fine below that.
And stocking up can be useful, saves on shipping.

Like many, I have more extra cable lying behind my stereo rack than I'd prefer. But the one thing to be careful of is actually going too short. A couple times I've found myself buying a shorter cable so I don't have so much slack, only to find that if I have to pull equipment out of the front to make some changes that I've gone too short to leave enough 'pull-out slack' on those particular cables. So try to leave 2-3 feet for working slack.
I whole-heartedly agree on the monoprice recommendation - very good cables at a fraction of the price.

ok... im at the website now... but a bit confused. there are a couple categories to choose from.
I think I will side with a 20 or 25 ft, but there seem to be a few types??

What's the difference? there's a huge price difference. almost double in difference.

I think you'd be fine with the cheaper cable, and unlike the other it's certified for 1.3a. It looks like the tin-plated copper material is what brings the price up, along with the longer length.
Also, look around and see what other cables you need. It makes sense to order more stuff in one shipment to spread out the shipping cost. If you order one cable, it's going to cost you $7 or more to ship, but each additional item only adds 50 cents or a dollar.
FWIW, I have a 28AWG 15' cable from Monoprice, and I haven't had any problems with it.

You don't need silver-plated for digital signals, at any length. It's use is questionable for analog signals, except to reduce bulk. Silver costs plenty more than copper.
