SONY XBR or Toshiba Cinema series?
I tried a search but didn't find too much yet. I am looking to replace my 7 year old 55" Mitsubishi Diamond and I've read discussions about the sizes available in LCD. I wish I could get a 57 or 62" LCD.
I want to make sure I'm getting the best model of 52" the manufacterer offers. Upscale specs, fastest refresh, etc. One local place says that for the money Toshiba Cinema is the best, another says that SONY XBR is hands down the best however is around $800 more.
Any opinions or other suggestions?

I was leaning toward LCD because a big window faces the TV and LCD have less glare problems than plasma. Then not to mention LCD tends to be so vivid when side by side with the plasma

Same problem though, either have to drop to a 50" insteqad of 52" or go bigger. The bigger TVs have HUGE price jumps. Maybe I should just wait it out with a DLP?

Toshiba makes pretty good sets, but they are commonly plagued with a green push problem (which gives greys a nice greenish hue). I've seen screenshots and I couldn't live with it.
And I'll correct Spiky:
Pioneer Plasma > Panasonic Plasma
also:
Pioneer Plasma Cost > Panasonic Plasma Cost

I love my Panasonic Plasma and think it is much better per dollar than the Pioneer Plasma. However, if you have the money then by all means get the Pioneer Plasma. Pioneer Plasma are in a league of their own!
Edit, I own a SonyXBR and have owned a Toshiba and would give Toshiba the edge. Sony is overpriced in my opinion but still a good TV!

I saw the Pioneer today and had to admit it was unbelievable. I'm checking in to the Power Buy that's at the Digital Bits right now. 60" Pioneer Elite for $6000 delivered. It's a lot of money but that TV is gorgeous.

Thanks alot you sunsabiches I ordered the Pioneer Elite 60" plasma, I ordered an A35 to go with it. I already have a SONY BR player I picked up last week. I need to get a new receiver so I have the Pioneer Elite picked out for that as well as new Paradigm fronts, center and sub. I'll reuse my Definitive Technolgies surrounds. Thank god I can reuse something!! I'm going to end up having more into this Home Theater than what I spent on my truck.
No disagreement with Spyboy but I'm about 10' away so the 60" screen should be more than ample.
