TV (panasonic) and DVD player (Oppo) are both doing something, VERY strage. Need Help

We had a power surge tonight and we were watching a movie. No problem, this happens alot. But when I went back to turn everything on, Ive noticed several ODD problems.

1. The TV set seems more zoomed in. The black bars on a 2:35 image are alot smaller. So I did a zoom out to see the full image to compare and saw the regular anamorphic view is cutting off about 2 inches from the top and bottem of the screen. When I turned it to the TV cable stations, its still zoomed in and because the the volume (or color, contrast, brightness) on screen display is positioned low, it is now cut in half!

2. This is the weirdest. When I turned on my Oppo the Component screen and Oppo load screen have SEVERLEY messed up Convergence. Theres the regular Oppo word, than one in blue, than one in red! Everything on screen is messed up and the image is BOWED or fish eyed looking. However when the DVD loads, it looks great (just zoomed in) theres no image problems.

Heres my equipment:

TV: Panasonic - PT47WX49
DVD player: Oppo Digital DV-970HD

I think I still have this TV under service but I have never heard or seen anythng like this happen. Have you guys gotten the hint Im cursed when it comes to electronics? Yeash....

A friend's tv acted funny after a storm. Not this same problem as you, but still a problem. I unplugged it for a few minutes. When I plugged it back in, all was well again. Give that a try. It resets some things when you do that.
Good luck!

Did you have anything plugged into a surge protector? Some offer coverage of damaged equipment.

Thank god I bought an uninterruptible power supply/surge protector when I bought my rear-projection HDTV earlier this year (mostly to protect the bulb).
