The building of my Movie Theater on HGTV Friday May 4 9:00pm-Revamped Photos Posted
Hi Everyone,
I've been a movie junkie since the age of 7. My whole life I've wanted a movie theater in my house. By movie theater, I don't mean some home theater room with a TV and a couch. I mean a MOVIE THEATER in my house!
I was recently married and my wife and I bought a house. One of the things that sold me on the house was the inclusion of a room that would be great for my movie theater. The only problem was my wife wanted it for a workout room. She gave me a time ultimatum. Finish the theater by a certain date or she was going to take possession of the room.
I was desperate. Sitting at work one day, I had revelation. I was like, my wife and I watch all these home improvement shows, why can't we be on one?
Right then, I applied to two shows on HGTV.com:
24 Hour Design
Design on a Dime
A week later 24 Hour Design called and the rest in history. I researched thoroughly and bought all the electronic equipment and they designed the room.
We built the room in 23 HOURS straight! It was insane! It's truly my dream room.
The show is airing Friday May 4 at 9:00pm on HGTV.
The show's called 24 Hour Design.
Check out the show if you get a chance. I figure we all the share the hobby and love of movies and DVDs around here, so you might want to check out a local boy's inspirational story.

Let me know what you think!
Note: I added authentic movie theater seats a week after they shot the show. So, you won't see them on the show. I'll post new pics after the airdate.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for the congrats. No embarrassing stuff was laying around the house, so I'm safe there.
It took them (with my wife and I) 23 straight hours to build it. So, I don't eve remember the end of the shooting. My wife and I were delirious. So, I'm a bit nervous we're going to look stupid, but I guess everyone on these shows look a little stupid. I just hope we don't look a lot stupid.
If we do, enjoy
But, it's all worth it. Got the room and it rules. By the way, after you see the show, if you have any questions about the set up or the construction, let me know. They did some really cool stuff on the cheap.

As soon as the show airs, I'll post a few photos.
I've added two rows of three movie theater seats since the show. My dad and I built a riser for the back row, so it's "stadium seating". So, you won't see these on the show. I'll post photos after Friday
