HELP - 8mm to DVD via DVR yields audio but no video

Please indulge a Newbie to this Forum (and DVD burning in general). Recently purchased a Panasonic DMR-ES10s DVR from Best Buy to facilitate transfering old 8mm home movies to DVD. Process goes very smooth, and am able to view finished product on DVR no problems. DVD-RW, DVD-R & DVD+R all finalize without a glitch. I thought I was all set, and then, on a whim, tried playing one of the DVDs back on our Daewoo DVDP480 player. I get the Daewoo background screen on the TV and audio, but no video! The Daewoo indicates that it has a valid DVD video in it and begins playback. The player plays commercially made movies fine, so I'm inclined to think that it's not a setup or wiring issue. I've tried all three of the above mentioned formats, and they all do the same thing. Thinking that it might be the 8mm screwing something up, I also taped off the air. That too gives audio, but no video. It does not matter which of the four recording modes I use (SP, LP, EP & FR). This is driving me nuts!!! The whole idea of xferring to DVD was to get away from needing a single playback device! I have not had a chance to try a different player - I guess that's next, but I thought that the Daewoo was very forgiving and could play just about anything! By the way, the DVDs also play perfectly on our PC's DVD-ROM drive. Anyone heard of anything like this? My sanity would greatly appreciate it.....

FYI - don't know if anyone saw this thread...

Tried the newly minted DVD-R's and DVD-RW's at my son's house today on his DVD player and they work fine..soooo, looks like the problem is with the Daewoo. Good luck with your forum. Jerry.

Check your player's documentation.....sounds like it isn't DVD-R compatible.
