Home theater projector help,...

I was looking at possibly getting a new video projector in the near future and obviously this can be a length and difficult process,...I was hoping one of you might be able to aid me in this somewhat, I currently own a Sony VPH-1001Q CRT projector, old school but has gotten the job done for many moons--I was looking at possibly replacing it with the Infocus X2 or something similiar, anyone who is familiar with the image quality of the SONY VPH-lines---how would you say the quality would differ, is it truly THAT much better or should I hold out for the time being? I'm seriously debating this and would appreciate any positive feedback I might receive. Thanks in advance.
