Decent Systems with Wireless Rear Speakers??

I'm looking at getting a setup where I don't have to worry about running wires for the rear setup. Looking to spend under 500. Are any wireless systems decent? Thanx

Why, wires are small and easy to just hide under the edge of carpet.

There were some announcements at CES in January about some wireless 5.1 surround systems. I haven't heard of them hitting the market yet, but it seemed like they would be out sometime this year.

OK, did some searching and found that Samsung announced one using Bluetooth technology. Sony announced one for about $1000 that is supposed to be out in September. Kenwood has one for the rear speakers that they say will be out in June for $300. There is an article in Sound & Vision about a Pioneer system with wireless rears.

Google for 'wireless surround system' and you should find more links to what you're interested in.

Please take this in the spirit that it is intended.

Wireless systems are not high quality audio. Despite higher frequency bands they still act like any other cordless device, ie., a cordless phone and are prone to static, dropouts and other interference.

As for hardwood floors and good audio . . . I wont even go there.

Good luck to you.
