Connecting DVD with Optical Cable To DTS/5.1 Receiver - No Sound
Hope someone can help.
Connected an optical cable from my panasonic RV32 DVD Player to my Pioneer Receiver.
I cant seem to get any audio to come out of my speakers.
I believe I set the correct sound settings on my dvd 'setup' menu, but still nothing.
Any insight or help is appreciated.

You probably have to assign the optical port on the receiver to whatever input you are using for the DVD player.
Like on my Denon I have 4 optical and 2 coax digital inputs but I can assign each one to a different input or all to one. By input I am referring to the DVD, CD, DVP, etc modes on your receiver.

Your optical cable should be connected to the port labeled Bitstream/PCM.
Make sure your dvd player is set to pcm/bitstream in it's menu setting.
If that doesnt work can you try that cable on another device?
Maybe another dvd player to make sure it's not the cable.
That might be reaching but at least one process of elimination.
