Have to admit, never sen the rear center be the same size as the front center. Anytime I've seen the setup, it is the same speaker as the other surrounds.

Bernie, from what I have read & gotten info on, I have been told that the rear center speaker should be similar or the same as your other surrounds as Jim mentioned. But then again, I just have gotten 6.1 this week & have not hooked it up yet.

I am waiting on Denon-1803 to come in. Not to take away from your thread (but to prevent starting another since it may be relevent) but I have read some posts from others with 6.1 who actually used 2 speakers instead of just 1 for the center 6th speaker. If anyone here has that set-up, I would like to know how it is done as well. Thanks.

i got a 7.1 channel system with a pioneer vsxd811s.
you put two speakers in the front, then a center channel , and 2 on the side wall, and then you put 2 on the back wall. The 2 in the back is just 1 channel split into 2 channels.
then a subwoofer wherever you want to put it.
the two in the back are small klh bookshelfs. real cheap. the
sides are polks.

I have the same Pioneer 811S with almost the same setup as METALICA05's, but I have the sub, and 2 speakers for the surround back. The best DVD for 6.1 sound is Blade II, imo.

That's strange, mine does displays dolby ex when I have it on auto. Check your surround back speakers setting.

Could any of you with the VSX-D811S recommend decent speakers (model #'s?) to compliment the receiver? Looking to upgrade.
