Toshiba = Region Free....

Hey all,

I have a new Toshiba DVD player -- loaded to the teeth -- I love it. However, the only thing it won't do ( i am assumming) is be region/code free by default. So, i was browsing around, and i believe i found a site that tells how to change the region/code setting on ANY toshiba player, i will past what it says below -- as well as include a link to the site. Will this work on any toshiba -- or certain ones only?

Region changing instructions for Toshiba Codefree DVD Players

1. Turn off the player by using the power switch on the remote control or on the front panel of your DVD player. The display is now blank and the player is in standby mode.

2. For NTSC playback on an NTSC TV press 1 and 9

3. For PAL playback of an NTSC DVD disc press 1 and then 8 (mainly used on multisystem tvs)

4. For PAL playback of a PAL DVD disc, press 2.

the site is: http://www.regionfreedvdplayers.com/...tructions.html

Thanks,

Matt

If you're in America, you would need NTSC playback of a PAL disc. If the player outputs PAL video to your NTSC tv, you won't see it.

Pal conversion does not equal Region Free/Multi Region. It's apples and oranges. If it works, it would allow you to watch R0 Pal DVD's on your R1 player. A multi regional player would allow you to turn off region coding altogether or select which region the player is used in.

The bottom of the link where it says:
"PLEASE NOTE THESE WILL ONLY WORK ON CODE FREE DVD PLAYERS"
is telling you this does not make the player region free.
