Looks like the 3802 has more power (including two additional amps for the back surround speakers), DTS-ES, DD 6.1, multi zone output, amp output assign, probably other additional feature too, didn't look very closely (sorry!); but here are a couple of links to the involved receivers to get you started on figuring out why the 3802 is double the price of the 1802:

Everything I've read indicates that the 1082 is the exact same product as the 3802, but intended for mass retailers rather than specialty shops.
