100Hz TVs???

Hi,
Is it true that they are 60+Hz TV sets (ala PC Monitors) for the Living Room? If so, what brands and models offer this?

Thanks in advance.

All NTSC TV's run at 60Hz. so I am assuming you meant 100Hz. as your thread title says. I don't think anything except Front projection runs at anything other then 60Hz. (possibly Plasma).

Actually these sets have been in existence for a few years now but are designed for the commercial and professional markets for use in both computer and video applications. I don't know of any larger than 32". There are also sets with built-in scan converters that will convert higher scan rate images to NTSC.

We sell 100Hz TV's here at work. I live in the UK by the way.
But then again 90% of the ones Sony makes for the European market are Widescreen and rely heavily on SCART input, so we get treated rather differently than you American folk.

I can pick a 100Hz TV's a mile off cause I'm used to computer monitors, and anything under ~73Hz gives me instant headaches. I show our customers the difference by looking at the TV out of their peripheral vision and it's a big seller. I wouldn't buy a TV that didn't have a 100Hz option.

I gather this feature is ONLY for PAL users, since no one has mentioned any North American (NTSC) link so far. Thanks for the info though...

Here are some pro/commercial companies you might want to check out: Monivision - www.monivision.com Princeton - www.princetongraphics.com Check out the pro sides of Panasonic, Sony and JVC and look at their product listings as well. You should be able to link to them from their main pages.

I would imagine that a TV with simialr technology for NTSC would run at 120Hz since it's a multiple of the NTSC framerate (~30fps). So possibly look out for 120Hz TV's in the future.
