Please enlighten me on progressive scan...
Ok first let me say that I somewhat know how a progressive scan DVD player works.
An interlaced signal sends out 2 separate signals at 30fps that interlace to create 60 fields.
A progressive scan will send out all 60 fields at once, 60fps.
Also progressive scan will take a film format (24fps) and insert 3 frames on the first one and 2 frames on the second to make it 60fps.
Composite and s-video do not support progressive scan...
This is about as far as my knowledge extends. I know how it works, but how do monitors take advantage of the information? How can you determine if a TV is progressive scan compatible so you are not wasting your money? Is any TV with component input compatible with progressive scan dvd?

Ok I read the faq and it really didnt tell me anything more than I already know, how the dvd player creates the progressive scan.
I want to know how it works in relation to the monitor. How do you know if you have a television that takes advantage of the progressive scan?
I have been shopping for a 16x9 projection screen and no where does it say if they are "progressive scan" compatible. I have seen some that have their own version of what sounds like progressive scan but they use different terminology.

Most TV's don't support prog scan. Look for HDTV models. Look for a 480p input (480 lines of resolution, p for progressive scan). Most, if not all 16x9's (in the United States) should support 480p.
