Samsung DVD 909 problems..

I have had my Samsung 909 for about a year and Im not all that satisfied with this player. It is extremely sensitive for dust and scratches on the discs and seems to be overheated quite easily, even though I keep my DVD - player in a well air-conditioned place.
Does anybody share my experiances? Any tips for optimizing this player or do I have to buy another brand?
