I put this disc in today to watch in my new player and the domn thing won't play. It just sits there saying "reading" and nothing happens. It's not the disc because it is in perfect condition and I have played it in 2 other players in my house. Any help, also is there a way to switch the region on this player?

The Matrix is a disc notorious for causing problems in various players, I think due to the DVD-ROM content screwing up certain players. I'm not sure if there is anything you can do short of calling the manufacturer for a firmware upgrade or getting a different brand/model.

Flame JVC
JVC dvd players had so many problems with Matrix that they finally had to admit it and it became an "official" problem disk.
JVC has a rebooting schedule on their website and you may have to reboot your player if you are having problems with other disks besides Matrix. If your problems are only with the Matrix disk a reboot might not make any difference.
If you do get Matrix running, be aware that it often takes several seconds for a JVC player loaded w/Matrix to respond to a command from the remote and that multiple commands eventually become multiple triggerings. I have a 701 and that's how it operates.
