I was thinking about PC and thinking it would be nice to get a new one because I do some programming and stuff and would like to have a faster, more stable machine...
This PC I have here is a nice one for multimedia tough...my DVD player in here is region free and it had a program deliverd with the thing that can change the region at any time...Also like to play around with emulators on it.
Now I was thinking maybe I could put the stuff from this PC in a desktop model (it's a mini tower now) and hook it up to my TV to only use it for DVD and emulators...I would also have a VCD player that supports every file format then and if I want webtv
But the real cool thing what I tought of was that this thing has a infra red portal so I would use a wireless keyboard with inbuild mouse for a remote...
Don't know if I'll do it or not...maybe in the future I will but I think it's a pretty cool idea ain't it?

Yeah, your idea could be called a home theater computer. Catchy, huh?

I have something similar to this. My entire house is networked together with DSL. I have a video card in my PC that has S-Video out. I have than ran to my Mit. 36" TV. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse so I can just kick it on the couch and use the computer. However, the screen looks horrible. The quality is very poor. Big pixels! LOL.

Sounds like you want to do exactly what Gateway tried a few years back with their Destination systems. If you are interested in the large TV/Monitor they offered check out the computer geeks. They had some refurbed monitors, i think 36", for a decent price not too long ago.

If you really want a lot more information about this kind of thing go here:

AVScience Home Theater Computer Forum

These people are on a whole other level in terms of this stuff. Most of what they say may not even make any sense to you at first, but the more you read it, the more you'll learn.

Here's my weird idea: play your B&W classics audio through your DSP (Concert Hall) with about a 40ms delay to emmulate the echo of the palatial movie houses of yesteryear. I got the idea remembering the scene in Get Shorty where Chili Palmer goes to see Touch of Evil. I distinctly recall an echo during the monologue and found that lacking in my home viewing. Sounds very -cool- & really draws you into the screen. Give it a try!
