How does one sell/trade a huge DVD collection?

For a few years I gathered a huge number of DVD's, over 700. Re: How does one sell/trade a huge DVD collection?

Find out which ones are worth more than $10 or $15 and bundle the rest into a lot on eBay. Many of the ones you list have very little value on the secondary market.

I agree. How would I determine those values?

Amazon's marketplace usually is a good place to see what each item is going for on the used market.

Re: How does one sell/trade a huge DVD collection?

If I had that many low-value DVDs for sale I'd probably just bite the bullet, bring them to a CD/DVD exchange like FYE, let them do the work and accept whatever meager price they offer. At least for the unsealed ones. I'm not trying to be disparaging when I say they're low value. It's just that having traded in DVDs for store credit over the years, I've witnessed how much the value of most used DVDs has dropped.

EDIT 9/16: Secondspin messed up my most recent trade in. I must temporarily neutralize my endorsement of them.

Spoiler:
OP, Secondspin.com has a handy bulk selling form where you can type in a list of UPC's and you'll be able to see what their price quote is for your DVDs: http://www.secondspin.com/s/bulksell/?mainTabMode=sell. They also reimburse the cost of Media Mail shipping if your sales order meets their criteria.

If you know, what's the low / high range FYE is offering? I haven't traded with them for years.

Actually I don't use FYE, I do my trades at a local record store. I meant a place like FYE, if you have any places locally that buy used DVDs.

Re: How does one sell/trade a huge DVD collection?

eBay is your best bet for getting the most value. I've been doing the same thing with my collection.

Start by selling the obvious bundles and box sets. 22 James Bond movies, Harry Potter 1-7, Miami Vice complete series, etc.

After that, you'll be stuck with individual discs which are only worth $1-$3 each. You can't sell them one at a time, because the fees will eat up any profit. And if you make the bundle too big, you'll only get $0.50 a piece. I try to keep the bundles around 5 movies. Group some by popular actor/actress. After that, group them by genre (Romantic Comedy, 80's Comedies, etc). I usually start the auctions around $15 for 5 Movies, and drop $1 each time they relist.

Eventually, you'll be left with a bunch of random discs. Just put them in groups of 20 for $20. And drop the price until they sell.

Rather than spend 20+ hours of your time to make a few hundred dollars; just give them away to family and friends.

Also, don't ship them Priority Mail. It's expensive and will eat into your profits. Buy some shipping boxes on eBay for around $0.40 each and use Media Mail.

I use 8x6x4 boxes for small, cheap bundles. And I use larger 9x7x5 boxes for box sets that require bubble wrap.

Re: How does one sell/trade a huge DVD collection?

There's a website called CEX, they buy DVDs, games, etc. but the prices they give are extremely low..
here in the UK, we have Game.. pretty much the same as CEX, walk in and sell the stuff for cash in hand.. do you have any local DVD stores in your area that would accept them for quick cash?

There is a guy on facebook, Ethan Gibbs, who buys whole collections. The only thing is he is mainly interested in horror/exploitation films.
