General question - I had friends who wanted to join if they could get Blu-rays as enrollments. So far they're shipping enrollment Blu-rays for any account that had a membership number before they pulled them off the site (actual, not the "u-xxxxxx" they assigned provisionals).

Re: Blu-Ray Enrollment Titles?

I still think it's gonna be the response to us provisional accounts. I doubt we'll ever hear anything from them unless we email about the account.

Re: Blu-Ray Enrollment Titles?

Eventually Columbia is going to have to allow Blu-rays as enrollments permanently...if not they can kiss their company goodbye as less and less people are buying DVDs for new releases.

"Dear Member,

Thank you for contacting us.

Due to us finally figuring out that we were losing our ass by offering 7 blu-rays for $12.89 & free shipping with only 2 $19.95+ purchase requirements (or one at $23.97 if you're really cleaver), we are unable to offer Blu-rays as Introductory choices.

If we may be of further service, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Sincerely,
Susan

Customer Service"
Fixed that for them.

Re: Blu-Ray Enrollment Titles?

Bummer, I had been away from CH for a few years and really liked being able to get blu. (Opened 2 accounts) Oh well, maybe in the future. There wouldn't be any reason to keep either of them open after fulfilling right?

Well, glad I got one account through. All the BDs are in my hot little hands...I do hope they do this again at some point though.

Re: Blu-Ray Enrollment Titles?

Yeah... I opened one account on 5/1. Shipped on 5/11. Got em' today.

Time to cancel my other open account... Looks like I opened it in April of last year. Went Blu two months later... Lost interest in CH after that but kept it open.

Bummer that the window closed so quickly on the BD enrollments... But, I'm not surprised after reading the thread over on that BD forum. Hopefully, they bring it back at some point.

Re: Blu-Ray Enrollment Titles?

I had gotten excited about CH again after hearing that they now offered Blu Ray. Guess I'll go back to sleep. The studios show their idiocy yet again. They clearly do not know how to market a new format. At some point they'll have to sell BDs at prices as low as DVDs if they want the format to survive and not become a niche format like SACD/DVD-A.

that was what they were so desperate to do with blu ray.... dvd had fallen too low in price according to stats and they were trying to use blu ray as the new format that would go back to premium pricing like back in the early 90s...

I'm not sure a format war and premium pricing in a time of unprecedented economic hardship while facing competition from Netflix and piracy is the way to go.

Re: Blu-Ray Enrollment Titles?

BD isnt mainstream just yet. Its getting closer, but many people have not yet converted over to 1080p TVs and BD players. While DVD is definitely being phased out slowly (hence DVD major price drops and increasingly larger BD selection at retail stores), its not a dead format yet.

I contacted them about my provisional account and this was their response-

Dear Member,

Thank you for contacting us.

Unfortunately, we have been unable to find any record of your
application with the information you gave us. If you could provide us
with your full name and address as well as the selections you ordered,
we would be happy to look again.
If we cannot locate an account, we will
notify you.

It is possible that your application has been received but has not made
it all the way through our enrollment process yet. Ordinarily, you can
expect to receive your first shipment 2-4 weeks after submitting your
application, although seasonal variations may shorten or lengthen that
waiting time.

If you believe your payment has been processed, please send proof of
payment via Postal Mail for our review. If you paid by check, include a
copy of the front and back of each canceled check. If you submitted your
payment electronically through your bank or by credit/debit card, please
include a copy of your bank statement showing this payment. If you paid
by money order, please contact the place of purchase and instruct them
to issue a tracer, and then send us a copy of the results.

If we may be of further service, please don't hesitate to contact us.

The really annoying thing is that I provided all of that info in my first e-mail. I just sent them a follow-up e-mail and I'll post the outcome when I receive it.

Re: Blu-Ray Enrollment Titles?

These pin-heads are really shooting themselves in the foot. Fewer and fewer people want DVD. People are ready to upgrade to Blu, but four years after the format comes out, there's still no CH Blu-ray club. Contractual Agreements with the studios my arse.

Re: Blu-Ray Enrollment Titles?

I dealt with that same e-mail previously, Sweet Baby James. It was for my second enrollment back when they still had all of the Blu-rays on the website for enrollment and I had a provisional account, but then it disappeared. I e-mailed back and forth with them around 5 times and very clearly explained my problem, but they never understood my issue. Eventually, I threatened to contact their corporate offices and issue a complaint about the poor service since they were never really addressing my problem. They then forwarded my concern to their IT area or whatever and they reiterated that they have no record of any enrollment. After confirming that I would not be charged for the enrollment, I gave up and just did a new enrollment and ordered the same titles again. Obviously, that isn't an option for you at this point, but I wanted to let you know that you're not going to get anywhere with them on this issue.

^

Thanks for the info. I don't even care that much anymore, but I damn well better not start receiving Director's Selections on this phantom account.

Re: Blu-Ray Enrollment Titles?

I think the party's over. I can no longer log in to my "provisional" account, though I had been able to for about two weeks now.

In my case, they converted it to a real account, but they didn't ship any enrollments, and it's already fulfilled. So slightly more useless than losing it completely, since I have to go to the (very slight) trouble of cancelling it.

Same here. I had placed an order for Blue Valentine BD under my provisional account and that order shipped and my credit card was charged but no mention or sign of the enrollment package...I'll have to return the BD now.

Have either of you 2 tried and contact them and ask about your enrollment package?
