Since CH does carry Perry Mason box sets, does anyone know when the latest release (Nov. 13) will be available for purchase? Would love to buy that one with a B1G1 code as I did last time.

What do you consider the best deal --- the cheapest. I'm not asking you to hold my hand, just maybe some insight that you have gleaned. Like I've said I've been out of CH for a few years and am trying to process the info that maybe you've picked up little by little.

None of these stick out as the "FUN CASH" thread ... just a little concise info would have been nice. If you don't want to answer, then please DON"T

Your enrollment box sets work out to about $15 each, and the regular DVDs that you get work out to exactly the same as the regular club (technically, it's the value of the regular DVDs that make the sets work out to about $15 each, but we don't need to get into the math here--Lizard and others have done that multiple times already.).
THANK you for an answer.

I did read alot of the threads and was trying to get some info before I made a plunge. The answers to my questions are spread out over 100 pages of threads ... just trying to get some concise info without taking half a day to read everything ...

I don't want to "slam" you too hard, but most of your questions can be answered by very little reading of a few key threads. It seems that the vast majority of newbies recently just aren't getting this or taking the time. The most significant threads are stickies or get updated so regularly that they might as well be stickied. Anyway... here are some answers for you.

1) The avg. cost of 1jk is about 5.xx unless you use B1G1 codes and free shipping to get it down under 4.50. Are there any codes available?
Yes: The Columbia House Sale Offer Codes, Part III thread. READ the FIRST post and then jump to the last page. Work backwards until you get to a list. Here is the latest list from theJester (who does a GREAT service keeping these up-to-date).

2) I assume the price breakdown for mulitple fullfilment purchaes is 39.95 for 2, 59.95 for 3
The first post in THIS VERY THREAD contains your answer. It's in blue text.

3) I was thinking of opening an account withoug the 3rd option to get Heroes HD ... What are my options available to maximize my account.
Lizard covered that very well several posts back.

4) I never used FC when I was a member (some five years ago). I remember it was for purchases made AFTER your commitment was made. Is there a precise direction of the way that funcash is earned and how can it be applied
Funcash is earned with EVERY DVD purchased (but NOT on free titles). An unfulfilled account earns $1 with each DVD purchased and $2 on most sets. Fulfilled accounts earn $2 on most DVDs with sets earning $4 or more. Put it in your cart to see the amount earned. Applying fun cash is a fine art and greatly debated as to its' merit/worth. Most of us wait for a FC "glitch" and jump on it. If that doesn't happen before 12/31 (cutoff date after which you lose ALL unused FC) you just do your best to maximize what you get. There are several threads with suggestions. All are short and there is good advice to be had reading them:
CH Special Club Price DVD's
CH Not Available for Enrollment (Regular Priced Items to spend on Funcash and B1G1)
what should i do with my $12 fun cash at CH?

5) The HDL is the best code for the TV section, but the fulfillment titles being 19.95 with shipping makes me think that this is pretty unspectacular. The enrolmmen titles might be worth the avg cost of 13.xx, but it does not seem like the fulfillment titles would be worth the 13.xx cost. Am I seeing this incorrectly?
Yes, you are. I can't locate the original post (I think it was by Lizard) that gave the "true cost" breakdown. Essentially it's this:

$9.95 sign up - 2 Sets
$19.95 x 2 - Purchase fulfillments with a B1G1 + Free Ship code
$49.85 - Total Cost
Subtract $4.80 x 4 (the generally accepted average cost per DVD when cycling accounts in the regular club).
That leaves 2 sets for $30.65 or $15.33 each.

If you do a B1G1 and do not get free shipping, add $4.98 to each set assuming you did 2 orders. If all on 1 order add $4.48 to each set.

If you do NOT do B1G1 and do NOT get free shipping, add $9.78 to each set and ask youself why you did such a brain dead thing!

You could also fulfill with a $39.95 set which counts as 2 selections. You should still come out under $20 per set depending on the number of disks in the fulfillment title.

I just opened up a package from Columbia House and found they sent me the wrong item. I went to the returns and exchanges section and did everything it asked and it says the correct item along with a return label are on the way. Has anyone ever done that and had it work, or do I actually need to talk to someone there to fix it?

By optimizing your purchases, you can get the $23.97 titles, including their 5.99 or 6.99 shipping costs, for $14.81 and $15.81 respectively. And the $29.97 ones work out to $21.81. And the movies would work out to $4.80.

But in order to get all those sets, you'd have to cycle a LOT of accounts and it would take a long time, and you'd wind up with many other DVDs at $4.80 a piece.

You can also use the TV Club and get some of them as enrollments, and they work out to about $15 a piece there, too (read the discussion here and in the box sets fulfillments threads for the calculations of prices and values).

How long does it typically take for a movie that doesn't qualify as a redeem-a-friend-reward to one that does? A friend just signed up, so I now have 2 movies to pick. But "FF: Rise of the Silver Surfer" currently doesn't qualify to be picked for this. I'm thinking its because its still considered a new release. Any ideas when its status might change? One month? Three months? Six months?

It is really hard to know whether and when Columbia House will carry a particular title. Because they have the other sets I would guess that they will get it eventually.

We rarely hear about anyone doing the "friend" thing because it is such a poor deal for the "friend". So, it is hard to know what the criteria are for a title to become available. If it has to be an enrollment selection, my guess is that Fox titles will be available for enrollment after the standard three months; others are guessing two months. The special edition versionFantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer - the Power Cosmic (Pre-Order, 11/27/07) is very unlikely to become available for enrollment.

Will you eventually be able to choose it as a "friend" selection? I'm sorry, I haven't the slightest idea. You could try other special editions that are not available for enrollment as a test to see. If what you want is the regular edition, then I would guess that you will need to wait until it is available for enrollment, whenever that turns out to be.

I applied online using the "bill me" option on the 7th this month. No confirmation or mailing of dvd enrollments, no emails of acceptance. Is it safe to say they lost my application? I already have just one other open account... I just hope it's safe to apply again, I wouldn't want to accidently open 3 accounts.

^It isn't likely that Columbia House would accidentally let you open three accounts but, even if they did, it wouldn't be a problem (some people mistakenly believe that it would lead to the blacklist or some such thing).

I'd wait a few more days — at least two weeks overall — before reapplying. And when you do, try to pick different enrollment titles in case the missing application does get approved.

Ok, got a question. I'm new to all this. I'm interested in the hd-dvd's and I like the CH.com prices for them. What is the difference between the club price and CH.com price? How do I get to the CH.com website to enroll? I've googled it and it only comes up with the columbiahouse.com website. Is this the right site to get the 40% off titles including the good hd-dvd prices? Thank you for your time and help.

^ Go to www.ch.com to get to the site. Be aware that you can't see the very limited selection of enrollment titles until you actually begin the enrollment process. However, smashthesymbols put together a list in September that is probably still current:
http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread....43#post8171443

For more information about CH.com, check out the Is signing up for ch.com worth it? and CH.Com Deals threads. The information is somewhat old but since CH.com never has sales, little changes in the club.

The basics are that you get 2 DVDs on enrolling and have to buy two to fulfill (but they can be any price). Nearly all DVDs are 40% off list price and shipping is always free. That's it. Much less hassle than the regular club but prices aren't as good as a well-optimized regular club account.

That sounds like a cookie problem, the Columbia House site is locked into the standard deal. Try closing your browser window then opening a new one and going to columbiahouse.com. Enter the enrollment code, for example: D50, where it says "Enter Savings Code" and hit "Go". You should see the offer details for a good 7:2 code: 6 @ 49¢, three to fulfill, buy one more for $9.95 and have just two to fulfill (skip the second $9.95 "bonus").

If you still get the standard deal, try erasing any Columbia House cookies that your browser might have accumulated (this really shouldn't be necessary however).

I was wondering if anyone has ever signed up on the phone for their second account. Meaning if anyone has ever opened an account on the phone while they still had an existing account. What should I expect? How should I state my reason about opening a second account with the same name, email, credit card and adress?

they won't even ask about your other account. you're allowed to have 2 accounts.

Sorry if my whining is getting annoying but Ugh I'm having a hell of a time with trying to get another account opened up with CH. So far no luck. Everytime I call up to open another account they don't listen to my suggestion of codes... maybe I'm not pushing them hard enough but the CSRs were kinda curt too. I also don't have a PSN and they keep asking for that like it's necessary.

you already have 1 account right? use that account number as your PSN. and use 98W as your enrollment code.

That is most unusual in my experience. Are you calling 888-242-3837? Perhaps Columbia House is changing phone enrollment policy. I have always found the CSRs on the new enrollments line to be friendly and easy to work with.

Be aware that the regular CSRs at the usual phone numbers aren't allowed to use enrollment codes and just give out the standard deal. That's why one must make sure to get to the new enrollment line.
