yes you can fulfill with 2 $7.95 dvds and yes we are aware of this. the average cost works out to be around the same as a normal 7:2 account but it can still be useful.

Well based on my calculations this deal yields an average price of $5.17 while the normal 7:2 deal yields $6.25 (assuming no special deals like B1G1 or free shipping). Is my math wrong?

we normally assume b1g1 w/ free shipping when calculating 7:2 average costs.

Keep in mind that the $7.95 titles are *anything* in the regular club with a price of $14.95 or less, not including "special price" selections. Even $9.95 titles in the regular club are $7.95 at ch.com! The regular club $19.95 titles are $14.95 each. Almost without exception, "sets" are from 1-5 or more dollars higher than in the regular club even after adding in shipping! Overall, really awful prices. In the long run a regular account using B1G1/Free Ship is a better deal *even if you do not cycle accounts*!

IMHO ch.com is only worth joining if you get 3 higher priced selections for "enrollments", purchase the 2 @ $7.95, and quit. Cycle if you want/need.

C89 on 4-4 via the website. Already have 1 account, so this would be number 2. Still nothing. They sure shut down the one that I used that didn't work, right away. Didn't put in a credit card, and don't remember seeing a bill later tab. I may have added my psn though.

What does that mean?

^If I understand your question, it means nothing. It is common for web applications to be "lost" (disappear without a trace) or rejected (one eventually gets a polite rejection letter). Most people just try again. It helps to do so with different enrollment titles, in case the old application eventually gets accepted also.

If you get tired of lost web applications you can try a phone application. Those have a much higher success rate, but only a few good 7:2 codes work on the phone, so be sure to read upthread to find which ones they are.

Well tried C89 a few days ago and it looks like it's the first account I've had that hasn't gone thru in about 2 years, oh well.

Maybe it is time for an enrollment codes part 3 thread with an updated first post?

Hey I think check cards dont work with columbia house. Every time i apply online instead of a "lost application" they actually send me a letter saying that they cant issue an acount at this time and that they are sorry to serve me. Has this happened to anyone else? (P.S Not the usual letter its actually just a piece of paper that comes through the mail).

Hey

I used the B9V code a few weeks ago and got approved. Got 3:10 to Yuma for $1.99, then bought V for Vendetta for $21.72 ant got TWBB 2-Disc for free, both shipped for free. Now, I get to choose 5 more free, with no more commitment. I am trying to figure out a way to not pay shipping. They sent me vouchers, so it looks like they make you do it through the mail. Any suggestions?

Bye the way, I think this code is much better than the average 7:2 code. I will come out less than $5 per DVD.

Then you have been more fortunate than most. Unless you get a letter saying that the code is invalid, the fact that your application was not approved is not dependent on the code. I know that everyone who has an application lost or rejected wants to blame it on the code, but there is no evidence that this is the case. Others can use the same code and get accepted.

You are welcome to start and maintain a "Part III" thread. It will involve some work to test known codes and extract the few working phone enrollment codes from the pages of this thread. After that it is just monitoring reports from people with new codes or who get letters saying that a particular code is no longer valid.

As I said earlier in this thread, I have enough threads to maintain and I'm not going to do this one.

So you can fulfill with Blu-rays? Do you think they will ever offer BRs for enrollment? I don't really want to get SDs.

Yes, it it quite common to get such a rejection letter. Columbia House used to send letters in envelopes but now they send computer printed ones the size of a postcard.

Others have used debit ("check") cards on accounts, so I doubt that it is the source of the rejection. However, using debit cards is not advised because if Columbia House makes a mistake it can play havoc with your checking account. It is better to use a credit card. If there is a mistake that you just can't resolve with CH, you always have the option of disputing the charge with the credit card company. (That would be a last resort, because CH might not allow you to have any future accounts.)

You can call or e-mail to use the vouchers. The piece of paper they send is irrelevant; your account will show that you are owed five discs. It is the same as getting a rain check.

Only if they do not charge shipping. That may happen because the CSR who processes the order may not realize that he/she is supposed to charge shipping (most enrollment selections they handle have no shipping). There was some discussion of this by Cutegirll025 upthread.

Short answer: we don't know. There is a report in this thread that BDs can be used as enrollments in Canada. I haven't checked the Canadian website to verify this, so I don't know if it is true or a glitch. But, if it is true, it is possible that it might happen in the US club.

It is also possible that Columbia House will eventually develop a BD club, similar to the TV Edition of the DVD club, with its own enrollment terms and fulfillment requirements. Allowing BDs as 49¢ enrollments in the regular club seems unlikely to me. I'd love to be wrong about that, however.

Nm, it actually did get accepted it just took unusually long. I wasn't suggesting that you specifically do it, just wondering if anyone was interested.

We're also curious as to whether or not there is a shipping fee on those 5 free movies.
I ordered my 5 free DVDs from the B9V code.

They charged me $9.95 for shipping + tax.

Even if they do charge shipping, it's cheaper:

1.99 (1st free)
24.70 (Purchased at full price - I got HD-DVD and used BOGO code - TWBB 2-disc)
1.99 x 5
-----------
$36.64 max (even if you have to pay shipping, don't they discount it on multiple items?)

Comes to $4.58/disc.

Cheapest I've seen on 7:2 codes is $6.42/disc.

Are you kidding?
I always use 7:2 and I generally average 4.95-5.65 an account

My last account was 4.75 average and I didn't even get in on the mega deal that happened

I guess that's the case if you take into consideration BOGO on your 2 you have to buy. $4.58 still cheaper, though.

Does anyone knows another code for this promotion?

We have to do that. That is a given in all the calculations here usually, as the B1G1 is quite standard.

While your figures are off a bit, your point that the 6:1 code B9V is less expensive than the 7:2 codes is correct.

Basic calculations without sale offers:
6:1 code
Enrollment: Free + $1.99 shipping = $1.99 (1 DVD)
Fulfillment: $19.95 + $2.99 shipping = $22.94 (1 DVD)
Delayed enrollments: $1.99 x 5 = $9.95 (5 DVDs)
Total: $1.99 + $22.94 + $9.95 = $34.88 (7 DVDs)
Average cost of DVDs: $34.88/7 = $4.98

7:2 code
Enrollment: 49¢ x 6 + $9.95 = $12.89 (7 DVDs)
Fulfillment: $19.95 x 2 + $4.98 shipping = $44.88 (2 DVDs)
Total: $12.89 + $44.88 = $57.77 (9 DVDs)
Average cost of DVDs: $57.77/9 = $6.42

However, that is not how we do our calculations because it is standard to fulfill with B1G1F plus free shipping. Making that assumption, the numbers look like this:

6:1 code
Enrollment: Free + $1.99 shipping = $1.99 (1 DVD)
Fulfillment: $19.95 + (free DVD) + (free shipping) = $19.95 (2 DVDs)
Delayed enrollments: $1.99 x 5 = $9.95 (5 DVDs)
Total: $1.99 + $19.95 + $9.95 = $31.89 (8 DVDs)
Average cost of DVDs: $31.89/8 = $3.99

7:2 code
Enrollment: 49¢ x 6 + $9.95 = $12.89 (7 DVDs)
Fulfillment: $19.95 + (free DVD) + $19.95 + (free DVD) + (free shipping) = $39.90 (4 DVDs)
Total: $12.89 + $39.90 = $52.79 (11 DVDs)
Average cost of DVDs: $52.79/11 = $4.80

The B9V code has the lowest average cost we have seen. And if one gets free shipping by mistake on the delayed enrollments, the deal becomes even more exceptional. More hassle than a 7:2 code, but much, much cheaper.

I e-mailed CH my 5 selections, so I'll let you know if they charge shipping. Probably so, but it's still a good deal.

It's been a long time...

Hello gentlemen,

First of all, just want to say that it's been close to 8 years since I've been active on DVDTalk.

So please, don't be too harsh on me

It's been the same amount of time since I last joined the CH DVD Club.

When I go to their website I see no other offer other than the standard one where you get 5 for $0.49 + Shipping & Processing with 5 to buy at full price.

How am I supposed to use the codes mentioned in this thread, at checkout perhaps? I see no way on their site to change from the default offer.
