I applied for this membership last wedsneday, and today I received and acceptance e-mail. So, so far so good. It was pretty unexpected since last time I tried to open an account online it didn't work at all. This time it didn't even took a week to get accepted. All check out how do those 5 free DVDs work out. I was planning to fulfill it right away with atonement and awake, but atonement doesn't have the pre-order price any more, so i'll have to wait until P.S. I love you comes out for pre-order

I just signed up for B9V (1+1+5) too. Hope I get approved. The advantage of this for me is that there is not enough current enrollment titles that I want for me to sign up for the normal deal. This way, I will (should) get five newer non-enrollment titles for free. By the way, this code does not require you (or even let you) use a credit card!

Same good luck, here. Signed up with B9V on Thursday, received the acceptance e-mail today.

Also, a shout out to those who noted that the 2-disk DIE HARD and HARRY POTTER: OotP flicks where currently available as enrollments. Even sweeter!

Has anyone completed an account w/ the B9V code yet? Are there any restrictions on what the 5 free titles you can get are after you buy one? Do you have to wait for them to send you a voucher or can you do the whole thing online? Would be a good way to get some newer titles if there weren't restrictions.

How did people apply for B9V? When I go to www.columbiahouse.com to enter the code, it comes up with some different offer.

From codes of days-gone-by, those last 5 selections MUST be enrollment eligible titles.

The "1" you have to buy can be anything - and you can use any offer code in conjunction with it. Either online -or- by phone.

If you do the '1' by phone, you MIGHT be able to get them to do the '5' right after finishing that order. If you do that, be sure they are entered/processed separately - wouldn't want any "extra" title in the '1' order to be confused as one of the '5'.

Oops! Actually, I signed up with 98W, a 7:2 offer. So, that's working on the website. Sorry for any confusion.

about code B9V 6:1
I e-mail about my order status (for my introdution package) and they told me it was sent and that I had 5 certificates (for 5 free dvd). To redeem them I had to sent an e-mail with titles and selection numbers. So, maybe I don't even have to pay shipping for those (she said there was no extra charge) if that it true it would bring down the average per DVD to 2.92!! which is too good to be true. I'm going to try to get those DVDs now (one of them is not avaible for enrollment now, so let see how that goes) wish my luck!

For the code B9V the 5 free DVDs you DO NOT have to pay the shipping or anything else (or at least that's how is working for me right now) and the free DVDs have to be avaible for enrollment ones. You do not have to wait until you get your fulfillment DVD

So, you should be able to fulfill using that B1G4 free code mentioned here, right?

http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread....72#post8596372

If my math is correct...

1 * 1.99
1 at 22.95, 4 free plus 10.95 shipping (using
5 * 1.99

If so, wouldn't the average be $4.17 for 11 discs?

Yes, w/out tax (if any for your state).

If Cutegirll025 is right, then that translates to $3.26 (pre-tax) with the b1g4 code.

Now, if CH would just run a site-wide free S&H for a few days!!!

My state (CA) has no tax and the fine print of the offer says that the 5 free require S&H. Hopefully that's not true.

Yeah,how about it..anyone try this?
I am going to try to get another account opened at my Aunts residence and I know there is no way she would allow me to give them her cc info.
I think I will call CH in a few days and try to get another account opened, and i'll ask if I can be billed.
I'll let you know what happens.

I've always wondered, why is bill later so important to everyone? whenever I get an account with that opened I always just pay right away anyways...
Just curious

^Mainly to help avoide "price errors" on special orders. With "bill me" accounts you have a bit of leverage if CH screws up the price on an order. You can get it worked out *before* giving them any money. If you are on CC payment, whatever they charge goes through and you have to deal with problems later. Is one really better than the other? Depends on your perspective.

Some people believe that not having a credit card on file will prevent Director's Selections from being sent by mistake (it's rare, but it happens on occasion) or that it will give them leverage if an order is screwed up. Neither of these things is true. If a bill is not paid Columbia House will refer it to a collection agency. This means that a screw-up will have to be corrected eventually. Better sooner than later.

When one puts the bill on a credit card one can dispute the charge with the card company, if all else fails. This would be a last resort, because it would likely mean no more Columbia House accounts.

Others want "Bill Me" accounts because they don't have credit cards, often the case with teens, for example. A related group are those who use debit cards instead of credit cards. Unless they have a good contract with their bank, they don't have the loss limits and billing dispute rights that credit card users have. Using a debit card can be quite risky.

There may be a few who just don't want CH to have their credit card number because retailers have a history of losing them to thieves. Some credit cards offer single use numbers, to get around that. But it presents problems if the limit selected for the temporary card number is too restrictive, because CH will often do a test charge in addition to the real one. If either charge is rejected, the order might be delayed or canceled.

Downsides of "Bill Me" include the hassle of mailing checks, late charges if the bill isn't paid promptly, and orders that are sometimes delayed until the previous bill is paid.

I tried E7F this past Friday...it 'worked'...but, nothing doing since I got the email saying they got my application. No hanging charge on my cc...

I tried 98W on the phone two weeks ago and I got my first ever 'declined' post card on Friday as well.

I think I may just order some titles with this great sale (on a fulfilled account) and call it a day.

Declined for what reason? Is that code gone? I was about to use it on the phone later today too. I'd hate to try it and find out two weeks later it didn't work. I'm trying to get an account open for that B1G4 code.

Has anyone done a phone enrollment lately that went through? What code was it?

No reason given. They were sorry they couldn't be in business with me or something.
That runs contrary to the relative deluge of 'come back' mail I'm getting online and in the actual mail!

(I've closed 2 of 3 accounts in the past 3 months, one of which was the crappy ch.com one).

I placed a phone order with 98W today. I'll update with my results if and when I get the package.
