Not a fading fancy - now the norm.

An explanation...

The department store has made a shift on how it advertises its sales. This new trajectory does not include much print ads.

As many of you know, the Sunday newspapers used to include the Best Buy weekly. This remains in select markets, the rest have been pulled. The current mentality is to focus on the internet community - they'll see the items on sale on their website. Which markets still have them? Don't know, nor what criteria for their continuance.

And I do not know if this decision is related to their waning sales (and bad store decisions); greatly reducing their advertisements to curb losses.

This reduction has made so many info wells dry. For now Target appears to be immune, which is how I'm able to find the data and relay it here; roughly a week in advance. And which is why the Best Buy weekly is posted on that Sunday - when the particulars are listed on the store's site.

I don't like it. I want to be able to plan in advance what and where I'm going to buy. And I'm fairly certain, I'm not the only one.

Making this shift worse is a continuity. Their weekly ad page and regular website has been listing different prices, not a lot, but enough for confusion. Add to this crap cake is that they do not update their digital weekly promptly. I've moan of that repeatedly. Hours and hours past midnight and Best Buy is still showcasing the previous week - dead sales. Target has recently been bitten by the procrastinate bug as well.

These factors mixed have made my posts and updates late here.

It's not your fault that Best Buy's business model is falling apart.

I'm just explaining why these price lists have been late these past weeks.

At the rate of pace they're going, I'm surprised Best Buy is still in business.

They're trying to focus on appliances rather than electronics and media.

Which by the way was the first domino that fell for Circuit City.

Hmmm, I just remember Circuit City ticking off their customers by demanding that everyone using a credit card show photo ID, even if it was for a $10 CD. No other stores asked for ID. I stopped shopping there because of that and so did a lot of other people.

I'd certainly like it if they listed all of what they will have for sale, and at the proper price, but even with the ads that info's not guaranteed. A lot of titles are omitted, many of them "smaller", but not all. And of course the different prices between in-store and online is probably due to Amazon.

Thanks for the explanation, I figure that it is what it is though.

After my recent Customer NO Service experience with them, I'm now hoping they go the way of Circuit City and soon.

show photo ID
Best Buy does - at customer service; you just want to make an exchange over a damaged item.
