The Kino Sales Are Not What They Used To Be......

What happened to cool titles @ $5.99-$9.99 (sigh)

They don't even seem to have the old "clearance" sale tab...........

Didn't even see a way to put dvds in low to high price range...but, I did see (and you might have too) $9.99 and up DVDs. Some are cool http://www.kinolorber.com/search-res...eatured_id=139

Yeah, I saw that, but they're no longer all that great of a bargain. Methinks Kino, then Kino/Lorber, now simply Lorber (just another uncaring corporation).

Who knows? The people running it in the past may have changed jobs and it's no longer a priority. That happens more often than not.

A question...

Granted it's not about the sale.

But it's related the topic - Kino.

I own their two disc special edition for the remastered "Metropolis: The Complete". Disc 2 is covered in ripples and what appears to be pits. I haven't even tried to play it. Does anybody else have this title; did I buy a poor copy?

My copy of Metropolis looks fine and plays fine. Sometimes bad-looking discs play just fine for me, so you'll need to play yours to be sure. On the other hand, most of the unreadable discs I've come across have looked flawless.

The few discs I've received over the years (each from a separate distributor, none from Kino) that have similar/identical issues to what you describe would not play or play with spits/stutters. I was fortunate enough in mose cases to notice this *before* the return window expired (somewhat a rareity with me). I'd guess yours will not play either, but I'd still contact Kino as you never know. I had one such disc from HD Cinema Classics and they replaced it even though it was well past the return window.

And there it is.

I wrote them about the problem and they're sending me a replacement; thanks for the advice BobO'Link.

They're probably selling less volume than in the past, and have a smaller margin.
