Re: Best Buy DVD prices (November 9th - 15th, 2014)

I was uncertain where to post about this, or even if I should, but in the same way that last year a small percentage of people received a $10 off coupon then on the 5th I was sent a "Buy it in-store. Save $5 instantly." e-mail. It has a unique 24 digit bar code, so I'm not posting a copy, but phrases included were "Come to a Best Buy® store and get $5 off your in-store purchase." "Instant Gratification" and "Don't wait for what you want, indulge yourself and get $5 off". "*Coupon expires on 01/15/2015 and MUST BE REDEEMED BY JANUARY 15, 2015. $5 savings coupon will be applied to your total purchase." Though a lot of exclusions apply*.

I checked the other site and saw no mention of this, but recall that almost no one got that one last year either, so maybe even fewer got this? Perhaps my getting this has something to do with that I haven't used my membership in many years (ever since one of their employees stole my identity), only used their website to order once (Weeds Complete Set BR for $25) and as far as they know I haven't been into a physical location since either 2005-6, except for using last year's coupon.

In any event, hopefully some other people will see this in their e-mail, but if not then there seems some value in making yourself (almost) impossible to track, just so long as they know where to send out these e-mails.

Thanks for the info, I'm glad that I'm not the only one, and it sounds like you did even better than I. If you don't mind my asking, do you also rarely shop at BB (at least so that they can track)? I'm honestly curious if these are sent to lure customers who rarely shop there back in, or if whatever formula is used is more random/harder to decipher than that.

yes, if you don't shop as much as you used to they entice you with them. I didn't get them when others did when I shopped alot there. I haven't been going there because they cut down their bluray and DVD section so much.

Re: Best Buy DVD prices (November 9th - 15th, 2014)

With a handful of exceptions, I'm not impressed at all with Best Buy's current rotation of in-store sale titles (many of which will remain until January). I think a lot of what is currently on sale - especially TV wise - will be Black Friday week fodder but I'm not impressed with the selection overall. There's just not much that I'm interested in and if Halloween and last BF were any indication, I don't think they'll bring much in to supplement it.

All I picked up was White Tiger (2012) (with a PM to Amazon while it was still $9.99) and The Americans on BD for $14.99 (after a $5 mystery certificate).

Also, the Best Buy I was in removed two of their four registers this week which seems a very odd thing to do right before BF and Christmas. This was the only time of the year when they actually manned 3 or 4 of them.
