So I'll ask - was "Divergent" any good? The ads I saw looked quite bland, a generic action/sci fi flick.

"Divergent" will always be bittersweet for me because it was the last movie I saw, and the last movie to play, at my favorite theater, the Century 22 in San Jose (similar to the one pictured to the left here.) HUGE screen in a 950-seat dome-shaped theater built in 1966, where I saw Star Wars during its original release among many others. Divergent seemed like a good movie although I couldn't enjoy it much as I spent most of the time thinking about the theater I was sitting in no longer being around, and I ended up crying at a couple points. (I even listened to a few songs from the soundtrack later and certain songs also made me cry- particularly during the 'zipline' scene.) Sadly the presentation was lacking- they were still using 35mm (not a bad thing, but they were doing it mostly wrong) and the bulb was extremely dim- guess they didn't want to replace it as they were going to be closed the next week. Still got chills from the huge screen, several times bigger than any of the screens at tiny cracker-box megaplex theaters. The screen and seats were ripped out the next week, but the theater is at least still standing as there's been movements to try and save it- its sister theater that is next to it has already been declared an historical structure.

Anyways, would like to check it out again at home but obviously I don't have as big a screen, and as long as that theater remains in limbo I'm not sure if I want anything to spoil my last memory of it.

No mention of Community. I wonder what they'll charge for the short Season (if they carry it)?

Thanks for the info.

Alan, almost afraid to ask, what's going to happen to the theater?

It's still sitting empty- on the Facebook group "Silence of the Domes" there are pictures of it from just a few days ago- lights in the lobby are still on. Better that than knocked down I guess. Nobody's officially 'taken possession' of it yet and there are no demolition permits, so still hoping for the best.

I've been to those theaters a few times when I used to live in NorCal... sad to hear. Hope they don't take them down at least.

Re: Target DVD prices (August 3rd - 9th, 2014)

Ended up buying it BTW, just because it was a Target Exclusive edition and the store I went to was down to 3 copies when I went in. Don't like the cover picture nearly as much as the regular cover and poster, won't have time to watch it for a while but will at least by the time the next one in the series is out.
