Newbury Comics in North Attleboro is moving from their old location to a new store front at the Emerald Square Mall. In order to clear out product, they are currently having a sale on everything in the store. Toys and games are marked down to 50% off and everything else in the store is marked down by 20%. It's not a huge sale, but if you're local it might be worth taking a drive to check out. This sale runs through Wednesday June 27th and is valid only at the current North Attleboro store.

This is so sad, Newbury Comics is becoming the new FYE, It seems they are moving all of their stores into MALLS!

They moved the Natick store from a fantastic location into the Natick mall, Braintree location also went into the South Shore Mall.
My brother in law told me he will not go back to the Natick store, I am with him on this as I never visit Malls, so it's a pain in the butt to battle Mall traffic just to visit your favorite record haunt!

Yeah, I'm bummed about the move into the malls too. The one in North Attleboro is losing a TON of space. The music selection has been getting pretty rough lately so with less space, I'm thinking it's going to get even worse. The dvd selection is large but they've bought a lot of former rentals from all the closing Hollywood Video stores, so even those are getting shaky.

They make virtually zero money on the CD/DVD sales. They make all their money on the rest of the junk in there. They still keep the trade ins alive because they make a lot of money "sourcing" media on Amazon and Ebay.

Maybe they don't make money on Cd/DVD sales because they never moved on with their customers and their music taste as it developed thru the years.

How many people still want to buy Zeppelin CD's or Bob Seger or CCR CD's or how many of that stuff can you buy if you already own that stuff. Newbury Comics is stagnant when it comes to music.

I remember in the early 90's you could buy CD's by the Ojay's and Kool & the Gang (in other words the variety of music was deep!)
Then they went thru a period of greatest hits packages. Then they gave up and started selling plastic penguins and then I gave up and started pouring my dollars into Dusty Groove.
.....I have been shopping at Newbury since the summer of 1980, you just can't expect your customers to stay 18 forever!

Just to update...today is the last day of the 20% off sale. Runs through 9:30pm tonight when that location closes. They'll re-open at the mall later in the week.
