Gohastings has a few seasons of The Virginian on sale - Season 4 and Season 5.

These sets rarely go on sale and they are hard to find in B&M stores as well.

Is it silly of me to admit that the main reason I'm considering buying these is that I lived in Virginia ~40 of my 45 years?

In a way since none of it ever takes place in Virginia, that's just where the lead character is from. However, it's not a bad show, at least the first couple of seasons, so if the tenuous connection of your home state beckons you to proudly lay claim to some sort of heritage with the title, go for it!
