It AIN'T tcm or even close in my estimation but it's a fun horror movie and I'd say worth 5 bucks.

I've seen BDs of Earnest Goest to Jail and Earnest Goes to Camp at $4.99 for weeks now.

I'm on my way there in a few. If mine has the pre code box, I'll nab it. Thanks for the tip!

Re: Half Price Books - New DVD Thread

coyoteblue, was there just 1 copy (possibly brought in by a customer) or several? The only classic box at the hpb near me was a cheezy Bib Hope collection.

Mine had two boxes, I bought one of them (they were definitely new boxes). They weren't mixed in with the box sets, but mixed in with the regular dvds. I haven't been to any other HPB stores in my area. I'll try to remember to check for it next time I'm at a different one.

If there were 2, it was likely from their wholesale dept. Hopefully it will show up here too.

I grabbed The Dana Carvey Show new and sealed for $7.99 at Half Price Books last month when I was on the East coast. You rarely see it in any B&M stores, and definitely not for that cheap.

I don't know if I'd still feel this way, but at the time of airing i loved that show, & I have always despised the similarly named Drew Carey who was competing in the time slot & knocked Carvey off the air!

/\ Give it a shot again, if you run across it.

Also, I noticed I said East coast in my earlier post. I meant to type West coast. I wish we had HPB in Massachusetts.

Re: Half Price Books - New DVD Thread

There's a nice find at half price. They had overstock of This is your life ultimate collection vol. 1. It was 7.99 at 20 percent off.

It features segments on laurel and hardy, dick clark, betty white, johnny cash, lou costello, vincent price, boris karloff, karen carpenter and others.

I loved the Dana Carvey show that was a really memorable show.

Thanks for the heads up ... I picked a copy (for 20% off) at the Mothership store here in Dallas ... They had a couple more copies in a locked end cap cabinet in the DVD section.

Does it have Harold Lloyd on there? I think I have a copy of it on VHS somewhere. Don't think it was on the DVD box set.

He isn't in this set. They must have been wanting to put it in vol.2 but it hasn't come out yet.

The last time I was in my local Half Price, they had two or three unopened copies in the clearance area, and I think they were marked down even more, to $3 each. So if anyone else is looking for it and can't find it, try the clearance racks.

I've recently noticed unopened copies of the complete series of It's Garry Shandling's Show at various local Half Prices. They are charging $80, which is actually more than Amazon, but if you are on Half Price's mailing list, you get coupons every couple of months and I picked it up with one of their 50% coupons, so it was a good deal.

Re: Half Price Books - New DVD Thread

at the hpb by me, the clearance dvd's are outside on carts stacked on top of each other, & it's really hard to see them. They've usually also got 2 literally 6 foot tall rows behind the counter also of clearance boxes of dvd's, & I've asked to go through them but have always been told no.

The one by me (Tacoma Wa) finally got the "This is your life" set. Nabbed it for $8.50 with a calender coupon.

Re: Half Price Books - New DVD Thread

The same company has an ultimate Bob Hope set made of his NBC tv specials for regular price 14.99. I was waiting for some kind of coupon, but I watched and really liked The This is your life set. I've never seen Karen Carpenter or some of the other interviewed before so that was an interesting part.

Re: Half Price Books - New DVD Thread

They got in the EG Robinson Blu/DVD Red House on Film Chest/aka HD Cinema @ $7.99

Good: major upgrade from the VCI

Bad: The Blu is window boxed with zoom defeated, so if you have an old full screen, the br is pretty worthless. The DVD is also an upgrade from the VCI, though.

Re: Half Price Books - New DVD Thread

Not a DVD, but a book.
I noticed multiple stores had stacks of a good book. Hitchcock, Piece By Piece by Laurent Bouzereau for 14.99 He is responsible for a lot of Documentaries on DVD supplements.
I used the 50 percent coupon a week or so ago. If a coupon comes out, this is a nice book.
