Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I posted this in the Blu-ray Deals thread, but I'll repost it here too.

I went to Big Lots today. I didn't know it, but there is one about a block from my apartment where a gym used to be.

I picked up The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel on Blu-ray for $5.
I also found Nikita Season 2 and 3 on dvd for $7 each. (They were marked $8, but there was a dollar off deal discount at checkout).
I also picked up On a Clear day on dvd for $1.88.

They had copies of Die Hard, The Wrestler, and Black Swan on Blu-ray for $5 each. Also, they had Friday Night Lights the tv series on dvd for $8 a season.

I did hear about that new batch of Blu-rays showing up, though I haven't gone to confirm it. My local stores are very unreliable in putting out their media items on any kind of normal schedule.

Stopped by my closest store today for the first time in a few weeks. The entire media section remains unchanged. That means there's nothing new. And it also means that nobody is buying anything.

^Sounds like here.

They recently moved stuff around to make room for a refrigerated section but the media section remained essentially the same other than moving it to a new floor location. I almost got excited as it looked like it'd been restocked but all they'd done was remove one of the waterfalls and put its content into the other 6 so they all look full again.

I rarely bother anymore, though there is a few blocks away. The "glory days" were pretty cool, though!

Thanks for the heads-up - interested in The Wrestler on Blu-Ray (I can then give my friend my DVD copy as he keeps borrowing it from me) and the last two seasons of Friday Night Lights on DVD.

Yep. Gone are the days of stopping in every week (usually on Wednesday to ask if any new media came in and again on Thursday if it did), the private shopping trip to the store room to be the first to break into a new shipment, finding a really cool OOP (or high priced current) title for $3 or less, the occasional mid-shipment trip that scored something cool, and more. It's a bit sad that I now get excited when the "day old bread" section has the specific brand/type I prefer for breakfast toast (a Honey Oat with chunks of grain for more texture and "bite") and *not* that I found a cool DVD title.

They have some of the Super Friends sets for $3 and more good news, they are not cut outs.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I did hit the closest one today. I did not look at the $5 dvd's, just the $3 dvd's & $5 blu's. Looks like they sent a ton of stuff back. There were a few $3 dvd titles of moderate interest, & 1 $5 blu of moderate interest. The line was too long so I left them....

The blu was The Simpson's movie, the $'3 that I remember were Love Story, Pepe La Pue Looney Tunes),some John Wayne movie I hadn't seen before at BL, & something I've forgotten..... The rest was of no interest to me. Probably 1/2 restocks, & they'd gone from 2 racks to about 2/3 of 1 rack. The $5 cd's were actually more interesting, but $5 is simply matching Wally Mart.

I did see that batch of $10 Blu-rays (I am Number 4, that recent Muppets film, etc) hit one store after seeing it reported a month or two ago.

A few $1.88 DVDs remain since Black Friday because they hid the waterfall display in a remote corner of the store.

Yeah, I was able to get some good 1.88 titles I missed a couple of weeks after BF because they did that.

Picked up:
Rocky BD digibook - $5

passed on the rest. Either had them (U&S) or didn't think they were worth $5.

^That's a good review with cap comparisons that I read beforehand. But the F13th 1-4 box set is a better value at $10 online and it has the 2 pair 3d glasses inside.

The 3d version has the reds and blues too far apart when things are right up to the camera so you have to sit really far back from the TV for it to look even half way decent. People complain that it gives you a headache.

Plus since it's a FT13 movie they weren't exactly at Avatar levels of 3D back then. Mostly just see how many things we can stab towards the camera It's still good for a watch though (I think Part 3 is the lesser of the early Friday movies though).

Oh, I realize that it's the crappier, older version of 3-D. I just thought for 3 bucks it might be fun to watch for a goof.

Thanks for the link, triste. Gonna go read it now.

I actually saw the 3-D film in the theater when it came out....only Friday the 13th film I saw all the way through. I actually kind of liked it . But,. I was in my teens, so ...perhaps it was just the novelty of 3-D , and of course a tv experience can't compare to the big screen...

I'm legally blind in my left eye. I thought 3d wouldn't work for me. I discovered a few months ago, if I'm very close to the tv, it does work (I have some vision in the bad eye), though I have to be within 1-3 feet of the set. Don't know about in a theater, that would be an expensive experiment.

Actually, the 3D is fantastic. I saw it in the theater when it was first released. The opening credits were especially awesome. And it wasn't presented in that fake red/blue 3D. It was polarized.

This comment makes me sad. Can't believe they didn't make it a real 3DBR

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

I've been to numerous stores & no Rocky digibook. However, YMMV but all the first wave of Warner tv seasons (2 1/2 men, OC, whatever was in that initial wave) are clearance $4 @ Woodland Hills/Canoga Park store... They will be $3.20 this weekend.... and in their glass case they have about 15 copies of the Harry Potter blu ray set...

I went today to look for a copy of The O.C. Season 4, but couldn't find one. I ended up buying Black Swan and The Wrestler on Blu-ray. They were marked $5 each, but were $4.50 each when the cashier scanned them.

Another 20% sale this weekend. Per the e-mail I received, it starts at 2 p.m. tomorrow. The same old routine (no coupon needed tomorrow, with coupon Sunday).
