Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Saw a few interesting $1.88 titles, and I really had to look at everything, don't give up, out of 100 plus titles at 3 stores, only found 2 or 3 at each big lots worth getting(at fayetteville I found 3, 2 at riverdale, and Union City) Found Criss Cross with Lancaster and Yvonne DeCarlo, Beau Geste with Gary Cooper, The Sentinel, Woody Allen's September, and...well, perhaps I left a bag in the car last night,(Have been sick, and had a nose bleed that didn't want to stop, so wasn't too concerned about what was still in the trunk) but I grabbed Experiment in Terror, and something else.
So, if you are an old movie buff, if you don't already, take your time looking thru the $1.88 dump.

My store didn't have many of the 4 film collections. I ended up buying The Richard Pryor Collection (Which Way is Up?/ Brewster`s Millions/ Car Wash/ Bustin` Loose).

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

The $1.88 offerings at my 3 local BL's were also a bust, although I visited the Lancaster store just this morning and their supply (possibly twice as generous as East and West York combined) was roughly half picked-over. I did get a Roman Polanski documentary, "Wanted and Desired".

But I noted some other $3 and $5 offerings that were new:

Party of Five: S1 $3
Meerkrat Manor: S2 $5
LA Ink: S1 $3

A Fistful of Dollars $5
For a Few Dollars More $5
Hang 'em High $5

In The Attic With Pete Townshend & Friends $5
Hudson Hawk $5
Midnight Express $5
The daVinci Code 2-Disc Full Screen Special Edition $5
The Green Hornet $5 (Spanish packaging)
Problem Child Tantrum Pack (two films) $5 (full screen)
Chariots of Fire $5
Enter the Dragon $5
Lost in Yonkers $3
Back to School $5
Rapid Fire $5
Walking Tall (2004) $5
Village of the Damned / Children of the Damned $5
Sleeping With the Enemy $5
Rob Roy $5
Taxi (2004) $5
A Walk in the Clouds $5
Out of Time $5
Brooklyn's Finest $5

Last year I spent over $300 at BL .. this year $17.

BTW are the 4-fers on sale tomorrow? I may stop by another BL if they are.
At the Niles, IL store after not being there for quite some time, found Numbers S4, Las Vegas S1 (great show, by the way), House S1 and Huff S1 for ten bucks...tons of movie like the Elvis 4-pack that had Tickle Me on it and such, but that's about it.

Is this the Arrowsmith by John Ford?

This cover has the same artwork as the single MGM DVD of "ARROWSMITH" (no 'THE' in the title). It is John Ford's 1931 drama, and an excellent one at that.

Re: Big Lots Part 10 - List your FINDS here (NO trades)

Hit 3 big lots, never saw the Arrowsmith etc set, or the Don Knotts. Did find a couple of interesting titles at the Griffin GA store, (no signs up for the $4 sets or the $1.88, just on the old 4 sided rack) $3 each, just one copy of O. Henry's Full House(with just about every Fox actor alive at the time) and a film I never heard of Convict Stage, a 60s western with Red Barry.

When Worlds Collide is yet the latest Paramount DVD discontinued in 2009 to show up at Big Lots. How on earth does Paramount handle its extra stock?

Yeah, really. A year or two ago, I threw up my arms in disgust and bought a R2 copy.

Saw a copy of a show called The Philanthropist - the complete series (just 8 episodes) for $5. Anyone see this and recommend it?

The DVD Talk review is positive, so I might go back to pick it up.

I would get WHEN WORLDS COLLIDE and WILD SURF without hesitation, but not sure about BUNNY LAKE. Critics praise it, but last time it screened here in LA I wasn't too impressed. Oh hell I would still get it just to once more see Olvier in the same movie with The Zombies.

I have a moral problem (I admit it's my problem) with returning something that is not defective just because I didn't like it.

Bridgeport (same city) also got this batch, but they are pretty close to sold out on the new titles.

Some new $7 multi-disc sets have been showing up in Central Ohio...

Picked up SPIDER-MAN 1, 2 and 3 triple feature and the Ray Harryhausen Gift Set which includes slim-case editions of 20 MILLION MILES TO EARTH, EARTH VS. THE FLYING SAUCERS and IT CAME FROM BENEATH THE SEA along with a neat movie scrapbook containing some of Harryhausen's storybook drawings.

Also saw some new $10 TV sets...MY TWO DADS and Season 3 of THE BEVERLY HILLBILLIES
