Twin Peaks $35.99 Amazon DotD 10/11/11

All 29 episodes of this David Lynch series are available on this 10-disc set, which also includes deleted scenes, extensive commentary, and other great special features. "Twin Peaks" is a show about an idiosyncratic FBI Agent who investigates the murder of a young woman in the even more idiosyncratic town of Twin Peaks--a town where everyone knows everyone and nothing is what it seems.

About $10 less than I paid for it three years ago. I marathoned the heck out of this show -- I think I got through the whole thing in three days. Really love this set.

Wonder what the chances are of it getting the blu-ray treatment... maybe with the commentaries from the Artisan set included. I'd double-dip.

Re: Twin Peaks $35.99 Amazon DotD 10/11/11

Kind of spooky, yesterday was listening to the soundtrack by Angelo Badalamenti and I went and checked out the Twin Peaks DVD set on Amazon.

Then this morning ...Bam ....there it is as DOTD......strange.

For $35.99 I picked it up , never watched it back in the day, most likely because I was so busy starting my business.
I do remember the buzz it created.....

Re: Twin Peaks $35.99 Amazon DotD 10/11/11

So does anyone know if this set is worth buying if I already have Season 1 and Season 2 sets?

I believe the original Season 1 set didn't have the pilot (which I bought off eBay as some sort of Asian import). Anything else?

Just wondering, do you guys like to watch the movie first then the show, or watch the show and end with the movie?

I believe there is a lot of extras that are exclusive to this set, but there are also extras from the individual releases that weren't included. So if you're a big Twin Peaks fans, you'd have to own this set plus the individual releases plus Fire Walk With Me to have everything.

I got it from Amazon for this same price last December, then got Fire Walk With Me for $6.99 later and watched them in that order.

I have yet to watch Fire Walk With Me, but from what I've heard there's lots of spoilers in there so you're better off watching it after. You should also avoid the European version of the Pilot (both versions are included on this set).

Definitely watch the series first, otherwise it'll ruin the main mystery: who killed Laura Palmer!

It sounds like you have all you need. Two items to note:

- The Taiwan import of the pilot is a PAL transfer, so it's got the 4% speed-up with the attendant pitch issue. The one in this box fixes that.

- The original Season 1 set had a DTS 5.1 soundtrack option which has been dropped from the complete series set.

Thanks OP. Went ahead and ordered 1 for that price. I was always interested in getting this but never got around to picking one up and since I have quite a few Lynch films, I think this is definately worth the $35.00!

As much as I want to I think I am gonna have to pass. After ordering from WBShop during their sale on TV sets (my order is still in processing) I am gonna have to hold off on buying anything else for a couple weeks.

Hopefully this deal pops up again in November/December

This is one of the few series I would upgrade to Blu-ray. Not sure if we'll see that anytime soon.

Many die-hard fans of Twin Peaks love Fire Walk With Me, but I hate it. Compared to the TV series, the movie has an entirely different look and feel. The TV series is a well-balanced mix of drama and quirky comedy. At times, it is dark and disturbing, but these aspects of the show are not overwhelming. On the other hand, the movie is just plain depressing. The spark of joy and life from the TV series has been extinguished.

As already suggested, watch the movie AFTER the TV series. Or better yet, skip the movie altogether. Just my 2 cents.

^ Yeah I loved the series, but never did see the movie when it was released. Then I skipped it all these years because of the things you said. BUT, I did order it today along with the tv set.
