Thanks for this. I'm big on the VCI stuff and need the last few that were released. Unfortunately they have some classic noir and british cinema stuff being released the 30th, one day after the sale.

Don't know about the subs, but they are having a great standard sale, outside of the coupon. Some really nice $3 disks, and Saber Rider complete for $10. Nice stuff.

All $3.00 a piece. Then the others after 60% off:

I wish WHIP AND THE BODY and GORGO were anamorphic.

But I love VCI and I'm sure I will find some bargains during this sale. And I'm always interested to see what VCI stuff people are getting, so post your buys!

Ditto that on GORGO. Such a good transfer otherwise. I even sent them an email once asking if they ever planned to re-release it anamorphically but I never heard back.

I ordered:

BLOOD AND BLACK LACE
GORGO
SPAGHETTI WESTERNS Vol. 2
HANNIBAL
RKO ADVENTURE DOUBLE FEATURE

Total price with shipping; $20.27

Thanks to the OP for posting this! My big BF buys for 2010! Haha, pathetic, I know, but money is very tight this year.

Are your guys orders still "pending"? Normally I wouldn't worry at all given the holiday and whatnot--of course no one is working. Just a little nervous since I never got an email confirmation of the new account on their site...and that should be relatively instant/automatic.

Will get Dark Night of the Scarecrow and Blood and Black Lace for sure, but that Scream Pack with
Kiss of the Tarantula, Don't Look in the Basement and Don't Open the Door is calling me too. Oh, and thanks OP.

My order is also still pending, and I never got an e-mail either, but I do have a temp charge on my credit card, so I think I'm good.

Glad I could finally help everyone out after all the money I've saved (and spent) from this forum

Big help to me man...I'd have never thought to check out VCI if not for this thread.

Wish I had realized I could have had all four Street Fighter movies for $7.99 with the 60% off their $19.99 box set, rather than get two at $3 a piece. I may try to contact them in the AM to switch it but hell it's still a good deal on movies I don't own even if I don't bother.

Re: 60% off at VCI Entertainment + some $3.00 DVDs

Thanks, OP. Got a bunch of $3 titles. I had to pay sales tax because VCI is in Tulsa and I live in Oklahoma, but it was still a great deal.

Of course, that also means I should get them within one day of shipping.

Stat, you're going to love that Herman Cohen Double Feature, especially HORRORS OF THE BLACK MUSEUM!

This is a great Black Friday sale from an unheralded DVD manufacturer, but they produce a lot of fun stuff and offer exceptional customer service. They are family owned and don't have many employees, but they manage to turn out some great product regardless of the inherent limitations. I tend to root for and support small operations like this when it comes to DVDs as I think they operate more on the love of film than the love of profit.

Re: 60% off at VCI Entertainment + some $3.00 DVDs

That was a blind buy, I never even heard of either movie. A couple I ordered sound totally awful (possibly entertaining in a bad movie way maybe though) but I'd rather get a bad movie for a few dollars than pay shipping and get nothing since if you go over $50 you get free shipping.

I agree though, I try to support the little guy especially if they're being really reasonable with their prices like this sale. I have some vci discs and they do a good job usually.

I highly highly recommend everyone get Slightly Scarlet. A fantastic late-colorized noir with a great commentary. For $3 its a must-own.

One I recommend is Stolen Face on one of the film noir discs. Either Forgotten Noir or Hammer Noir. Written by Jimmy Sangster and early prototype for what would become the blueprint plot for most of the Hamnmer Frankenstein series with Paul Henreid in the doctor role later played by Cushing.

Re: 60% off at VCI Entertainment + some $3.00 DVDs

Wanted to add for those unfamiliar with VCI who may think it's mainly horror given that's what most people here are ordering, they have a wide variety of films.

Also if you're like me and hate to be unable to find out postage rates until you are on one of the final screens; it appears 1-3 titles are shipped for about $4 media mail, 4 or more $5 mm (you can also get priority, other rates) - not sure if they charging per disc or per set - and orders over $50.00 are postage paid.

I decided to order $50+ worth since VCI is rarely on sale bigtime on Amazon or DD, buying

LORETTA YOUNG SHOW - CHRISTINE (her short-lived 60's sitcom) $16.00 (35.99 on Amazon)
BEING CHARLEY CHASE set $16.00 (35.99 Amazon)
THREE NUTS IN SEARCH OF A BOLT (Mamie Van Doren exploitation comedy) $8.00 (17.99 Amazon)
ISLAND OF DESIRE (Tab Hunter, Linda Darnell) $6.00 (13.49)
CHARLES STARRETT B Western Double Feature $4.00
DAYS OF THRILLS AND LAUGHTER (silent film compilation with Chaplin, etc) $3.00 (19.99 on Amazon)

Some others I considered but ultimately passed
Burke's Law - Season One Vol. 1, Vol. 2 $12.00 each
Hedy Lamarr Double Feature The Strange Woman/Dishonored Lady (PD) $2.00
Betty Hutton Double Feature Perils of Pauline/The Stork Club (PD) $2.00
Quick Let's Get Married (Barbara Eden, Ginger Rogers) $4.00
Promises Promises (Jayne Mansfield) $8.00
Film Noir Double Feature Vol. 2 - Bury Me Dead (June Lockhart)/ The Chase (Robert Cummings, Steve Cochran) $4.00
And Then There Were None (Thomas Mitchell, Judith Anderson) $4.00

Re: 60% off at VCI Entertainment + some $3.00 DVDs

THE CHASE is an absolutely fantastic film noir! The transfer is only fair and its co-feature, BURY ME DEAD, is pretty bad, but it's worth it to see THE CHASE in the relatively best copy around. No serious Film Noir collector should be without it.

Re: 60% off at VCI Entertainment + some $3.00 DVDs

VCI is very reputable, and I have bought from them numerous times with no problems. I have found that, being it is a small outfit, an invoice e-mail is not sent, but you can always contact them to verify an order....just takes a while to hear back.
This current sale is great! I just placed an order, and must have saved about $100!

Re: 60% off at VCI Entertainment + some $3.00 DVDs

I watched ROBINSON CRUSOE last summer and found it to very interesting and compelling, but you have to remember it was directed by Luis Bunuel, so it does have his customary surrealism as well as his own unique slant on things. It is, however, very faithful to the book and is probably the best version of the tale ever filmed, though there are still a couple of variations I've never seen (the Peter O'Toole one and the Pierce Brosnan one).

In any case, why take my word for it, here is an insightful review:

ROBINSON CRUSOE
