Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Along with the BD, there were tons of Magnolia DVD'S too like last time. I'm missing some of the BD that I would like, but could only find them at one store.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Went to my two closest stores again. Still nothing. Second store had no idea when they were getting in movies, if at all. I'll check again in a week.

Hit a third store because it was near something else and picked up a few DVDs:

- Columbus Circle [gift] (no sign of the Blu at any of mine)
- Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (no sign of the Blu at any of mine)
- See You In Valhalla (the slip attracted me to it, lol)

I also got a book: The Family. It's one of those movie novelizations. I can never resist those. This one is based on that De Niro/Michelle Pfeiffer flick.

Congrats on all of them, and especially on finding the DVD again of Seeking a Friend. I saw Columbus Circle once but passed. I guess I thought I'd find the Blu-ray, but never did. I really should learn that for a $1 I can/should just pick some of these up. I didn't come across See You in Valhalla, but had already bought it from WM , so that's probably for the best.

That's how I felt about Seeking a Friend... Saw the DVD but passed on it because I was hoping to come across the Blu. Glad I was able to at least find the DVD the second time around.

I don't think I initially realized Columbus Circle was one of the Blus. I passed on the DVD due to lack of interest, but I bought it this time as a gift for someone else who I know wanted to see it.

How is it? I was kind iffy on it, but I figured what the hell, it's a dollar.

Yeah, it still worked out. It probably worked out okay for me too, as Columbus Circle was a minor want, the sort of thing were it looked just interesting enough for me to spend a $1. Considering everything I already own but have never seen, and all the stuff I still want to buy, it's maybe for the best that I don't actually find stuff like that.

One of my biggest priorities was Admission (that I didn't find), and then I had a bit of interest in Life Happens, but overall I'm happy with how it all turned out. 27 movies total (including the 2 DVD's with 4 films apiece).

How is it? I was kind iffy on it, but I figured what the hell, it's a dollar.
How would I know? I've been thinking of changing my user name to "Unwatched Movies". At least I did sell the code for a $1.50 a year ago, so at least there was some discount on it.

Same for me with American Pie, which I couldn't find and have never seen. I did end up with the Blu for some shitty direct-to-video sequel, expecting to find the original at another store, but no dice on that.

And I could change mine to "Low Shelf Space" in addition to having too many unwatched movies from DT and the like. I really have to do something soon.

Many of those American Pie Presents movies are actually totally unrelated to the original and it's direct sequels, though Book of Love actually does have some relation. I haven't seen it yet either (of course), but I'd guess it's pretty minor, and that you could watch it without spoiling too much. Also, it supposedly has Sherman Hemsley's final film appearance.

You actually have shelves? I feel proud when I can transition from piles to cardboard boxes.

That alone makes it worth owning then. He was a national treasure!

LOL. I'm having to resort to using cardboard boxes as tables for my DT hauls.

Yup.

I at least have a real table I can use. But I actually need that, so they soon have to be cast out, and make their way in the harsh larger world of my place. I give them a quick speech, y'know, like "Stay alive, no matter what occurs and I will find you!".

But sometimes I never do.

Blus are about wiped out at this point, but I picked up three more DVDs. Hard to resist for $1.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Went back to one of the ones that never stocked, and lo and behold, they eventually did stock. Knew I should've been on top of that store, because still no sign of the elusive American Pie and I wouldn't be shocked if they had it and sold out (unless that somehow skipped my region entirely). Gonna have to check my closest store, which also never stocked.

Still, I found a couple more Blus and did okay, so I can't complain.

Blu-rays

- Columbus Circle
- Darkman (FINALLY!)

Two of the Darkman copies had cracked cases. Glad I noticed that and got the one good one.

DVDs

- Awaken (with slip)
- The Barber
- U-571

I'm not sure why I didn't get Barber until now. Was it available as a Blu in a past deal? If so, I probably kept hoping to find that.

I can't stand submarine settings, but the cast of U-571 is so good that I couldn't resist.

Is there a pattern to when Dollar Tree restocks DVDs for their weekly special?

I believe they're supposed to put out the weekly display on Friday, but each store tends to do their own thing. As far as actually restocking it, that's hit or miss as well.

I'll also mention since this thread was bumped--I went to my local store this past week and there was an advertisement put in my bag for a 10% off everything sale tomorrow. Not sure if this is at every location, but worth looking into if you have interest.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I need DVD cases, badly.

Not that eco-case crap.

I've heard nothing - so I called them up today. And was told they don't know when they'll get more.

More?

'How many DVDs do you have for sale?'

'Thirty or more.'

WTF!?!

Picked up...
(for watchin')

Mr. Nobody: Extended Director's Cut
The Architect
Survivor (Milla Jovovich and Pierce Brosnan; no slipcover or the leftovers didn't)
The Brass Teapot
Life Partners

And all their copies of "Don't Mess With The Zohan" for the case; same with "The Architect", but that was only two.

I was suprised to see "Life Partners", came out last year. Wanted to get it, but didn't feel like dropping fifteen bucks. Glad I wanted, one dollar.

Anyhow, you might want to check your local store. They might have dropped a pile of titles.

I also saw copies of "Reign Over Me", full screen.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

First store had 1/3 Blu-ray's vs. 2/3 DVD's, all in electronics. Yet no DVD's I needed.

Second store had 2 Blu-ray's, with over 100 DVD's, all in electronics. But the DVD's were very lackluster, 20 or so copies of Runner, 30 or so Survivor. Several that I'd just bought on Blu at Store #1 like Upside Down & Brass Teapot. Mr. Nobody. Life Partners & LA Story that I already own. Two exceptions though.

This 8 movie pack there were 3 of: https://www.amazon.com/Circuit-Rampa...dp/B00I0W5YQU/

And another 8pack that there was exactly 1 of that I can't find at Amazon, 8 Film Action: Killer Pack DVD aka Killer 8 Pack DVD. Includes:
Way of War Cuba Gooding Jr.
Elephant White Hounsou Kevin Bacon
Act of Vengeance Gina Gerson Robert Patrick
On The Edge Ice-T
Dead Heist E-40
The Code Morgan Freeman Antonio Banderas
Sacrifice Cuba Gooding Jr. Christian Slater
King of the Avenue Ving Rhames Esai Morales

Third DT was unloading the truck and I was told it'd be awhile, so drove to 4th DT and was told they were also unloading, and it would be 3 hours. Drove back to 3rd one and a really helpful employee found 2 cartons of movies and brought them to the front. 31 Blu-ray vs. 29 DVD. No DVD's I needed though.

Drove back to the 4th store, and 50 mins. later the same guy told me 3 hours (still).

For DVD collectors, Upside Down comes in a white case, so if anyone has a particular need of those, then they're available.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I went to a few stores, all close by and close to each other. I wonder if Labor Day delayed some shipments, because only one of the stores had anything. It was kinda picked over, but I still managed to score a few decent finds.

DVDs

- Elsa & Fred
- Songs in Ordinary Time

Blu-rays

Spoiler:
- Answer Man
- Brother's Keeper
- Good Neighbors
- Home Run
- Killing Season
- Parkland (a friend got this for me)
- Reach Me
- Roadie (almost bought the DVD for $3 from Big Lots, so I was happy to find this)
- Strangerland

BTW, I asked about movies in the last store. He said check back Wed. I'm dubious, but we'll see.
