Re: Warner Archive sales

That code wouldn't work for me on an order of all Blu-ray Archive titles.

Re: Warner Archive sales

Is this the best sale they ever have? Seems like there are a couple of these I have been waiting for a deal on but it seems I keep seeing 5/$50...

Yeah, especially since they've included some of the most recent releases (usually releases from the last month or two are not included).
With the $5 coupon code, this is the best it'll usually get.
There should be another 5/50 around New Years if you want to wait. Don't know if it'll have a code though.

Gazebo
This is a GREAT black comedy for anyone that hasn't seen it.

Re: Warner Archive sales

Well... looks like the two main movies I wanted were, for whatever reason, not included.

Guess I'll get Zone Troopers and Welcome To Woop Woop sometime in the indefinite future...

Re: Warner Archive sales

This weekend, the Archive has many of their most expensive boxed sets (the ones that normally retail for $50-60) available at 3 for $100. This includes a lot of the TV seasons such as Dr. Kildare, Maverick, The FBI, Medical Center, etc.

Usually, they discount these 20-25% during sales, so $33.33 for these titles is a very good price. The sale should run through Monday.

Re: Warner Archive sales

Paying more than about $6 for a burned disc unfortunately goes against my grain.

Re: Warner Archive sales

Many of the TV sets aren't burned disks either. Just check the replicated section because my understanding is that the one's located their are still available in pressed form.

Re: Warner Archive sales

This probably as cheap as they are going to get with the free ship. I'm going to need to see how many I'm "desperate" to have.

Re: Warner Archive sales

Oops, I thought free ship was at $50, it's at $75. They also charge sales tax in my state; so this isn't as good of a deal as I thought.

Lowest is 5/$45, which seems to happen about once or twice a year, most recently just after the Christmas 5/$50 (figures!). Either deal is pretty good, though.

Re: Warner Archive sales

If I can get free ship, I'll reconsider. The almost 10% sales tax sucks, but it isn't Warner's fault.

For those that haven't seen The Narrow Margin, it's a fun train thriller and it's on TCM tomorrow (Saturday - 2/28 somewhere around mid-day depending on where you live).

Indeed. Lame sale, to put it quite kindly.

Re: Warner Archive sales

My thoughts exactly. They do better sales during the year and you can regularly pick up those titles for $12.50 at DD and/or Amazon. I expected at least a 6/$50 sale or free shipping for any order or 50% off, but not something this poor.

I was just about to post the same. The days of 5 for 50 with free shipping are becoming a distant memory and it is, as you point out, no doubt the result of the store being taken over by a new company. I was hoping we would see the return of it for Black Friday at least, but since not, I have doubts we will ever come across the great WA sales we used to have. I would think they are moving less product now since this new owner took over, but if they are not interested in high volume sales anymore it probably doesn't matter to them. The Archive discs are overpriced to begin with so this just gives me more reason to avoid them.

Re: Warner Archive sales

^^I'd not really given it much thought but I believe you're correct. I don't recall seeing a 5 for 50 sale since the site transfer and no %off codes either. There've been some "sales" but nothing better than those offered at any other seller of their product.

Re: Warner Archive sales

Such a bummer. I'm holding out hope for Cyber Monday though. 5 for $50 was the right price for me, and I would use the sales to buy the titles I wanted and fill up the order to 10 or 15 discs total with blind buys. Those days might be over.
For the past few years I've used DVD planet and deep discount to pick up the multidisc sets and Hanna Barbera seasons since the best we seemed to get was 25% off on those. I was able to get a decent deal on a batch of them yesterday at DD.
The lack of availability of recent titles is troubling so even if they do have a better deal on Monday, I might not order anything anyway. Bummer bummer bummer.

Re: Warner Archive sales

Maybe the sales aren't there like before and they're losing interest in the brand. Or sales are up and they don't feel generous.
