There are a few "out of stock" items in the sale so you should add, if you want to get it, both sets to your cart and then delete one if it's not in stock. If they are both in stock, I would pick the latest release.

Does the remastered set contain English subtitles? I find this pretty much essential for English comedy shows when dealing with puns that come pretty fast & furious and oftentimes rely on slang that's not as familar to us colonialists. No subtitles on "Jeeves & Wooster" has kept me from grabbing this on DVD despite how much I love the series...

Good question, as the listed run time is also significantly shorter on the new release. It does appear the commentaries at least are ported over, and there are new features as well.

Same situation with Black Adder: The Ultimate Edition - newer, remastered release and several dollars cheaper than the old one on sale.

Both series are absolutely brilliant, BTW. I can also very strongly recommend:

It looks like the new Adder collection has $20 lower MSRP. Is the new one on sale? I agree it's cheaper than the old set, but if that's not even the sale price, you may be able to save $10+ by waiting a week or two.

I don't know, but it would be nice. I don't have a problem with the slang because I've watched so much British TV over the years it's become like a 2nd language. I'd like subtitles for no other reason than to watch late at night when the wife's asleep. She complains if I turn the telly up enough to hear everything well so I use subtitles to help keep the peace.

According to the amazon listing it's "Subtitled"... but I don't trust them enough to believe it 100% as they're often wrong on product details early on. The manufacturer provided "details" don't mention whether there are subtitles or CC and none of the customer "reviews" bother to mention this. In typical amazon "review" fashion they gush on about the show but don't say anything about the *product*. It'd be nice if a review shows up on DVDTalk as there's already one on the remastered "Black Adder" set, which *does* have subtitles. This gives me hope as both sets are from the beeb.

Nice. Sarah Jane Adventures (S2) releases on 11-10, so there will be a 12-hour window when it will be available while this sale is on. It should be $19.97 (half of $39.95) which is just about as good as it gets. That's also the same release date for DW: War Games, which should be $24.97 (half of $49.95).

Um, not every Doctor Who DVD is part of this sale. The War Games has already been released; DD has it for $31.89 (36% off).

That's odd. DVD Price Search shows War Games as releasing today (11-10-09). -hscratch-

I've just checked the listing, DD did not add either title (DW: War Games or SJA S2) to the sale. Oh well.

War Games was released last week, along with the Black Guardian trilogy (Fifth Doctor). SJA S2 is released today, and it's the only DW-related title coming out in NA this week.
