Best Buy Ad - 11/01 - 11/07/2009

Re: Best Buy Ad - 11/01 - 11/07/2009
Oooooooh noooooooo! I had totally forgotten about the 2 Zorro Walt Disney Treasures sets. $44.99 each is very expensive (yes I know there are 6 discs a piece) because I'm so used to waiting and buying an entire season of anything non-Disney for $10-$15 1-2 years after it's released.
HOWEVER, good old Disney with their super limited production runs of the WD Treasures series (seemingly trying to make them go OOP immediately so others can sell them for a fortune on eBay) makes waiting 1-2 years a very risky proposition.
Are other people going to buy at full price during the release week? Any other strategies or suggestions? I'm afraid I'm going to be forced to buy next week from Amazon at $39 each (assuming the price holds). I hate spending so much money. And I'm weird in that I actually prefer the colorized Zorro episodes which these are not.

Manzana, thanks for pointing out the Zorro seasons. I totally missed it when looking at the ad. I went to Amazon and pre ordered it for $38.99 for seasons 1 and 2 each. Also no tax, considering our state's 10% ding at the cash register.

Just picked up Napoleon Dynamite on Blu the other week from Fry's for $10.
Rocky collection on Blu is the cheapest at $54.
Road House for $10? On my birthday!?!?!

Sunshine Cleaning for $9.99? I'm in.
I'll also have to let my parents know about The Shield price because it's at the top of my Christmas list.

Some of these can be gotten for cheaper if pre-ordered from bestbuy.com for local in store pick-up. I plan to pick up Forrest Gump and It's a Wonderful life on Blu-ray. They are each $20.99 on bestbuy.com compared to $24.99 in the print ad. The bb.com price on Gump is the best I've seen as Amazon currently has it listed for $23.49.

Been wanting to pick up Traitor on BD -- for $9.99 here's hoping Amazon comes thru with a nice price match on Sunday :-)

I held my nose and preordered at Amazon too. I really hate paying so much for 2 seasons of a TV series, but when I read about its limited printing I got worried that Amazon may not have enough even for the 1st shipment of preorders. I seriously think this is an official Disney strategy on the classic titles... print so few that Disney collectors are forced to pay their high prices on release date or risk really getting your guts ripped out through your nose on eBay which would make the current Amazon price look cheap. It reminds me of the great Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck exchange: "Shoot me now... or wait 'till I get home". Thanks, Disney, for never giving me the luxury of waiting 1-2 years to pick up your DVDs on the cheap.

Yeah that Shield price is ridiculous. I need to start WAITING on these TV sets vs spending $40 a pop when they come out, yuck!
FYI you can Preorder The Shield complete set from Borders using a 40% off coupon for $103.99 + your local tax, free shipping as well. A little cheaper than BB.

I'm glad I waited on the BB ad to see the price on Clone Wars S1 on Blu. It was $41.99 at Amazon a few days ago and I thought BB might be cheaper.....it wasn't.
But now Amazon has dropped to $34.99. I can't complain if Amazon is matching BB's DVD price on the Blu-Ray.

Anyone notice that it seems to be the same sale week after week? or that the sale jumps from store to store? I just hope this is them gearing up for some good BF and holiday prices.
