Between outrageous shipping charges and sales taxes, how is this such a good deal?

It is a deal for some pre-order box sets that are already discounted to a competitive price and then apply the 30% discount - for example, The Shield Complete Series works out to $89 with tax and shipping included. Also, some folks have trade-in credit for one of the other TWEC stores that can be applied.

I'd say they're pretty good; I placed a small order using the THIRTYTHIRTY code the other day: a DVD that came out yesterday, and two CDs that won't be released for a few weeks. I chose the "send items together in one package" option, to save on shipping costs, and because I'm not in a hurry to get the DVD... but I just got an e-mail this morning that they've shipped the DVD.

Weird. I must of missed the "ship together" option because the two box sets I bought were shipped separately. Shipping came out to about 4 bucks for both so I guess that's not too bad.

NO, not the greatest possible fantasy deal with shipping, but FOR ME (with credit, wanting new cd's NOW), it was a BETTER or similar deal than than what 20% w FS would have been later. I had credit that covered my purchases, so I was only taxed on shipping, instead of everything). I'm only interested in cd's right now & most of the other companies don't ever give discounts on music (let alone NEW music). I compared at all of my TRUSTED sites that & WH had the best starting prices anyways.

The higher priced, the better deal over 20% w FS. Less items, better savings.

Spend $90 for 6 items on current deal = $71.50 + tax.
20% w FS = $72 + tax.

1 item on current deal = $66.50
20% w FS = $72

Spend $90 for 6 items on current deal ($90 credit) = $71.50 + tax = $72
20% w FS (NO credit) = $72 + tax = $77

Good deal under right conditions.

The new deal is good for American customers, but international is left high and dry again. Too bad, I used to order hundreds of dollars worth of stuff from Secondspin/Wherehouse every month, but lately I can buy things new rather than paying their shipping price.
