some of the walmarts have put up a "kiss" display to promote the new album, similar to what they did when the last ac/dc album came out. on this display I noticed all 3 season sets of gene simmons family jewels marked at 9.96 each. there were some other cool things on there as well, like "special edition" m&m candies with faces of each member of kiss on them, which I thought were really cool.

I was at Walmart tonight and a bag of m+m's with kiss on them are $6. NO THANK YOU! I would've picked up season 3 of family jewels if I knew it was $9.96.

Which version of season 3? With or without the roast?

it is in fact the version with the roast, from what I understand, only the 1st pressings were missing the roast episode (which is now out of print), the later pressings have it, the set is about 12 hours with bonus features

Does anyone know why Season 3 is out of print, while all others are still available?

This title came out in late 2008 and according to what I'm reading above, it was out of print just a year later.

Also, does anyone know why early pressings of the set did not include the roast episode?

I bought this title the week it came out, so does that mean my copy wouldn't have the roast?

As you can see, I've been in no rush to watch this season since it's still unopened. Is there any way to determine if mine has the roast simply by reading the package description or bar code number?

Man, I hate being such a completist...

Old Season 3 sets are 3 disc and later ones are 4 disc and called Season 3: The Roast Edition.

Only reason I would think they made 2 was because they're going to release it seperate and then decided hey we can make more money by rereleasing the whole season again instead. I owned the first 3 and sold mine then a month later Season 3 went OOP and now they're going high.

If you like reality based shows or KISS, it is one of the better ones. Gene is pretty likeable in general although at times he can come across as arrogant. Overall, I have seasons 1-3.

Sadly, it turns out that my copy is the original release (although it includes 4 discs, not 3).

Now to begin the slow, arduous process of obtaining an expensive, out-of-print DVD title...
