What channel was this on? I never heard of it.

not sure what channel it was on, but it is a show from the late 80s, it is about an undercover cop that infiltrates gangster organizations, kind of like the movie "donnie brasco" the show was interesting in that it is done in episode blocks of story arcs, that each one is like a mini-series. the cop is played by ken wahl. the 1st season is 2 story blocks, in the 1st one the main gangster is played by ray sharkey, and in the 2nd one, it is an arms dealer played by kevin spacey. it is a very well written show.

Does this version have the original music replaced? If I recall previous versions had missing music (the most notorious example being Nights in White Satin replaced during the finale).

if the company that previously had the rights to wiseguy wouldnt spring for the music rights, I seriously doubt that millcreek would, but then again, alot of the major labels are releasing sets without the original music as well, and still charging a fairly high price for them. at least millcreek is giving us value, 22 one hour episodes for less than fifteen dollars. I am sure that if a major label had put this set out, it would be at least three times the price that this set is going for.

22 barebones episodes, no subtitles, 1 audio track, no bonus features or commentaries, 2 choices on main menu (play all, or select episode)

According to an Amazon review the original song featured in the 1st Mel Profitt episode has been put back in, but Knights in White Satin song is still replaced.

Whether that's true or not I can't say. This is the review I looked at:

This release sounds about as bad as I feared. Millcreek's releases remind me of the old budget "EP" VHS cassettes. This is great for those not caring about quality and just want the series cheap. Spreading 22 episodes across 3 discs is pushing it. I'll be holding on to my original sets.

actually, its across 4 discs, not 3, and the image quality is actually pretty good, definatly better than vhs quality, its somewhere between 3-4 hours per disc, being that a 1 hour show is actually about 40 min once they take out the commercials. I have been watching my set and I am really quite happy with it, and I wasnt aware that another company had previously released the complete 1st season of wiseguy on dvd

If I'm not mistaken, the *complete* first season was never released elsewhere. The other company released Wiseguy in story arcs, so the first season consisted of two separate volumes to reflect the two arcs contained in s1.

Anyway, I ordered this yesterday. Can't go wrong with that price, and I don't really care about extras anyway.

My copy from DD shipped on Wed, really looking forward to receiving this set (never had a chance to watch when it was on tv, but I know it is supposed to be an incredible show). I could care less if the PQ turned out to be vhs quality, but I am happy to hear that the image is not quite that bad.

For those of are seeing the show for the first time. Wait till you see the most beautiful and hottest girl on the show, her name is Joan Severance, she plays the sister of the character played by Kevin Spacey. She is soooo damm hot.

havnt gotten to watch the 2nd story arc yet, but I have heard that kevin spacey and joan severance are quite naughty with each other, and brother and sister, there is something you dont usually see on tv.

Ah, that's good - I could've swore somewhere listed it as being a 3 disc set, which scared me off. For that price, I might've been ok with replacing my larger sets. Well, probably not if they stripped off the commentaries.
